If after pressing the power button on your C31 LLT, you notice the start-up sequence only flashing the red LEDs and there is no meter movement, then the tester may be out-of-cert.

The Tester flashes red then green five times (1 second each cycle). Meanwhile the meter rotates smoothly up to 30+ kV, then returns to 0 kV. Then the LEDs are off (for 2 seconds), green (for 2 seconds), then off (for 2 seconds). The green LED then illuminates until the Tester times-out, is turned off or is used to measure a voltage.

If after pressing the power button on your C31 LLT, you notice a different sequence of LEDs, then it may be time to charge the internal battery pack.

The video shows the start-up sequence with the "Battery Low" indication. Look for the five red flashes starting at the seven-second mark.

When the power button is pressed the LEDs and meter self-test sequence will operate, as illustrated in the following video.

The C31 tester requires testing, calibration, and certification annually.

The C31 LLT is robust, some of the first batch of C31 testers made 20 years ago are still in use today, proving the C31 is a good investment financially as well as an investment in safety.

The HV Probe must be replaced after five years of service.
