🔧 Ctrl Alt Fix is back! 🔧

I'm pleased to say Ctrl Alt Fix is back open and taking on repairs again!

A few things have changed while I've been sorting things out:

💰 Parts costs are down — I've managed to get my part prices even cheaper, with the choice of genuine or aftermarket depending on your budget. I'll always tell you which is which before any work starts.

Just to be upfront about how pricing works: the part itself is often the cheapest bit — what you're really paying for is the time, diagnosis, and expertise that goes into fitting it properly and making sure nothing else is wrong. That's the bit that doesn't get cut short, however cheap the part is.

🛠️ Labour pricing refreshed:

Quick fixes (software, minor servicing, controller repairs): £30–£50
Standard repairs (screens, charging, thermal rebuilds): £60–£120 + parts
HDMI repairs (PS5/Xbox): from £60
Board-level work (short circuits, no-power): from £150

📋 Diagnostic deposits:

Standard faults: £30
Advanced faults (HDMI, no power, liquid damage, board-level): £40–£50
This covers my time diagnosing properly — it's separate from your repair cost and non-refundable once you go ahead, but you'll always know the full price before I touch anything.

⏱️ Turnaround:

Console cleans and screen replacements: often same-day
Most repairs: 2–3 days
Complex board-level work: Depends on fault

🕘 Hours: Mon–Fri 9am–3pm · Weekends by arrangement

A huge thank you to Ctrl Alt Fix for supporting our Creative Digital Skills students and providing the accessories they need to build their very own PC this term.

They genuinely went above and beyond to make sure our students had what they needed to take on the project.

For our learners, this isn't just about putting a computer together. They'll be developing practical digital skills, learning how different components work, problem-solving when things don't quite go to plan, and building their confidence along the way.

Most importantly, they'll get the satisfaction of seeing something they've built themselves come to life.

Support like this gives our students opportunities to learn through actually doing, and we really appreciate Ctrl Alt Fix helping us make that possible.

A letter from us;

Ctrl Alt Fix only launched at the start of this year....We’re a small local business run by two people, yet we’ve worked hard to provide affordable repairs, support people in need and maintain a high level of positive customer feedback.

Sadly, the continued rude, disrespectful and inconsiderate behaviour from a small number of people has started to affect our ability to provide the service we pride ourselves on.

Some behaviour has also crossed into our private lives, including our home address being shared and customers turning up unannounced — creating genuine concerns for our family and children.

So, for now:

⏸️ Time to reassess whether Ctrl Alt Fix continues

We understand frustration and genuine complaints, but please remember we are a small local business, not a high-street chain. Please be patient, be respectful and don't turn up at our home.

💗🎮 This one is a little personal for me…💗

Hi 👋🏼 Debs here 🖤 breast cancer has been part of my life for many years now, and I’ve seen the breast cancer pathway from pretty much every angle.

I’ve been there as a relative, as a patient myself, and as a healthcare professional. Ever since breast cancer first affected my family, I’ve been a CoppaFeel! Ambassador. It’s a charity and a message that has stayed very close to my heart.

I’ve seen the worry, the waiting, the appointments, the investigations and all the uncertainty that comes with it. I also know how important it is to know your own body and get something checked if it doesn’t feel right.

So when I saw Game for CoppaFeel! 2026, there was no way Ctrl Alt Fix wasn't being a part of it 🖥️ 💖

We’re taking on 2,500 minutes of gaming and raising money along the way, with a target of £150.

🎮 PS5 rescue mission! 🛠️

This one came to us after being "fixed" elsewhere — missing screws, liquid metal spread all over the board where it shouldn't be, an HDMI port with a cracked housing hiding under a mess of solder, and 4 traces ripped clean off the board underneath it all.

Good news: it's all fixable. We're replacing the HDMI port, running jumper wires to rebuild the ripped traces, cleaning up the thermal compound properly, sorting the missing caps, and putting the screws back where they belong 👍

If a previous repair has left your console (or laptop, or phone) in a worse state than before, bring it in — we'll always tell you straight what's actually wrong before touching anything.

(but it's now back to the customer with a fully screwed fully working ps5)
