Another CCTV System Installation completed for Heavenly Beds, Gotherington, Cheltenham.

We recently completed a CCTV system setup for Heavenly Beds in Gotherington – a job that came to us through a recommendation from one of our happy customers. 😊

Originally, this was meant to be a quick and simple task — just connecting a NVR to the existing cameras and tidying up the CCTV setup in the server room.

However, as often happens in our line of work, things turned out to be a bit more complicated!

Here’s what we found on site:
- The internet cable was completely non-functional — someone had painted over the connector with white paint, breaking the contact. We cut and re-terminated the cable, restoring internet access.
- After connecting the cameras, the system still showed no video feed. A detailed diagnostic revealed that one of the cameras wasn’t an IP camera and needed replacing.
- To make things trickier, all of the cable terminations done by another contractor were faulty, so we had to rework those as well.

What was supposed to take 3–5 hours ended up taking 10 hours, but the result made it worth it — the system is now fully operational, all cameras are working perfectly, and the customer can view the live feed directly on their phone. 📱🎥

We’ve just completed another CCTV installation — this time for a client in Stroud, Gloucestershire.
We installed an 8-channel HiLook by Hikvision recorder along with 8 HiLook T249 cameras in stylish anthracite grey, with a 4MP resolution.

📌 The camera positions were carefully chosen by the client to ensure full coverage and maximum effectiveness.

🔧 For a clean finish, all cables were neatly routed through plastic trunking. These not only tidy up the installation but also offer space for any future cabling needs — and can even be painted to match the exterior, making them virtually invisible.

📢 Success Story: How We Helped AMA Flooring Get Back on Track! 🎉

We recently stepped in to assist AMA Flooring based in Cheltenham after they experienced a major technical setback. Here’s the story:

🔹 The Challenge:
Following advice from Apple Support, AMA Flooring reset their computer to factory settings. Unfortunately, they weren’t warned that this would erase all their data—and their backup was disabled. The result? Critical data was lost.

They called us, and we quickly got to work!

🔹 Our Solution:
1️⃣ Data Recovery: We successfully recovered a substantial amount of lost data, allowing AMA Flooring to resume operations smoothly.
2️⃣ Diagnosis: We identified the root problem—a failing hard drive, bizarrely held in place with adhesive tape.
3️⃣ Repairs and Upgrades: Replaced the faulty hard drive with a new, reliable one. Performed a full cleaning and maintenance of the cooling system, which desperately needed attention (you’ll see why in the photos!).
4️⃣ System Upgrade: Installed the latest macOS 15.1.1, overcoming compatibility challenges since it’s officially not supported on this model.
5️⃣ Backup Setup: Configured automated cloud backups to ensure they’re never caught off guard again.

Unexpected Software Update on a 2014 MacBook Pro

We recently received a surprising call from one of our clients. Their very old MacBook Pro (Mid 2014) suddenly displayed a notification for a software update to macOS Sonoma 14.5. Initially, we were skeptical, but to our surprise, it was true!

Upon updating the software, however, the drivers responsible for the screen and graphics card were not functioning properly. This resulted in display issues, much to our client's dismay.

Thankfully, after some research and the installation of additional software, we were able to restore the correct screen resolution and functionality. Our client is now able to enjoy the much more new version of macOS on their over 10-year-old laptop!

This experience has shown us once again that with a bit of effort and the right expertise, even older hardware can benefit from the latest software advancements.
