A couple of months ago I asked the question whether the residents of Churchdown would like to see Full Fibre Broadband in Churchdown. There was an opportunity to register an interest on Fibrehop's website. Churchdown Computers are working with Fibrehop on the rollout and I now have an update on this so here goes.

Despite getting 4,500 view across Facebook and Nextdoor only nine people said they would be interested. This figure obviously isn't enough for City Fibre to suddenly switch from their current plan and race to Churchdown. However the slightly better news is that City Fibre have now confirmed that Churchdown is scheduled for Phase 2 of the rollout and work will commence in 2025 as per the map below.

As a resident of Churchdown I am passionate about bringing Full Fibre to the village but as I'm sure everybody is aware it's all about supply and demand. Fibrehop are listening to me about the number of homes in the village and the lack of fibre but require me to prove that if they were to lay the fibre that people here really want it. Windows 8.1 has now reached end of life with no further security updates being issued under extended support. Windows 8.1 machines are still eligible for a free Windows 10 licence. The demand for wifi in the home has never been greater. Multiple devices, gaming, streaming services and the good old laptop. Despite this the inability to get wifi to the far corner of the house or even the garden is still a problem for many. Wifi extenders often introduce as many problems as they solve so is there something relatively inexpensive and easy to set up that can solve these problems? We recently did a keyboard replacement on an HP Laptop with a minor water spillage. As many of you will know the keyboard just pops out on a tray on many laptops and you simply detach the ribbon cable and install a new one. On this model HP dq-0500sa the keyboard is actually built into the top cover and all the components including the motherboard are attached to the top cover. The end result is the purchase of a new top cover and a complete rebuild of the components attached to it.
