It has been said that once 6G comes out, wife signals in the terra-hertz range will allow routers to surveil people, their facial expressions and actions!

Carnegie Mellon University researchers have transformed ordinary Wi-Fi routers into sophisticated human detection systems capable of "seeing" through walls. This technology works by analyzing the subtle disturbances in Wi-Fi signals that occur when human bodies move through them.

Rather than using cameras or other visual sensors, the system relies entirely on existing Wi-Fi infrastructure, making it both cost-effective and widely deployable.

The researchers trained artificial intelligence algorithms to recognize specific patterns of signal interference created by human bodies, allowing the system to determine not just presence but actual positioning and body poses of people in a room - all without direct line of sight.

This technology effectively converts routine wireless routers into sensing devices that map human movement in previously inaccessible ways, functioning through common building materials that would normally block visual surveillance.

This presents obvious privacy issues even at this scale, and could be weaponized by governments and militaries in concerning ways.

Unlike traditional visual monitoring systems that require installation and are easily identifiable, this technology operates invisibly through existing devices most people already own. The implications extend far beyond mere technological innovation. While proponents highlight potential benefits for health monitoring (detecting falls among elderly individuals) and security applications, the technology fundamentally changes our relationship with privacy in indoor spaces.

The ability to detect precise human movements through walls without any visible monitoring equipment creates an entirely new category of surveillance - one that operates beyond our awareness and traditional consent frameworks.

This tech reveals how the lines between helpful innovation and invasive surveillance continue to blur in our connected world - all while governments become increasingly authoritarian around the world.

What makes this particularly worth talking about is how it transforms devices we've already invited into our homes for one purpose (internet connectivity) into potential monitoring tools with capabilities we never consented to.

Humanity continues to face a situation where the consciousness and value systems driving our society are highly problematic and supported by a defunct system design, all while at the same time the vast majority of humans have little power over how these technologies are forced upon them.
