Recent research suggests that younger adults are continuing to benefit from lower life insurance costs.
In 2025, the average monthly premium for life insurance among 18- to 24-year-olds was just ยฃ12, compared with ยฃ48 per month for those aged over 55. Over the past five years, premiums for younger adults have fallen by 5%, while costs for the over-55 age group have increased by 38%.
The study also found that younger adults are increasingly choosing to enhance their protection by adding critical illness cover alongside their life insurance. Since 2020, 11% have opted for this additional cover, compared with just 2% of those aged over 55.
