We would like to thank all who took their time to test the game. We have collected and analysed all feedback provided through the survey and have put it to good use.

The UI has been fixed to match the screen and edited a few bits of UI to bring in consistency throughout. Animations have been added to the more of the towers and the old animations were tweaked.

A lot of people mentioned the difficulty of the game. We have reduced the rate of fire and damage of the dominant towers so the game has become more difficult and a bit more strategic as you now need to be careful with what towers you place now or you may lose!

We have reached our final game and would like to thank the people who passed on their feedback and helped us to come to this point. The team has put a lot of their effort into it to get to this point and finally complete the game.

The team has had a lot of fun the past 12 weeks working together and now it's came to an end.

Thank you !

After receiving some criticism over the games state, we would like to remind our testers that the version of the game that you are testing is bugged and unfinished. The team realises that the UI is off of the screen and that some areas of the game need to be fixed but play testing is not to find bugs but is about giving the development team feedback on the design and features of the game. Criticism is appreciated as it will only help us to improve in the future but the team needs that feedback to act upon and that is why we request that anyone who plays the game, fills out the survey attached to the link. This would be very much appreciated by the team!
Thank you to everyone who has tested the game so far AND filled out the survey, your comment are being read and taken into account for the final version of the game.

This week, the team has been working on making changes to the issues brought up in the review of the Alpha Game, this includes implementing a new and improved map, UI fixes and other edits. The artists have been working hard to makes these changes to improve the game. Our programmer has also been hard at work to complete the game, implementing a selling and upgrading system as well as a way for the user to speed up the game time.
The game is in the final stages of completion and so the team have also discussed ideas for testing the game to see what users think and this shall begin happening soon!

The game has reached Alpha stage. Animations have been placed within the game to help develop the game and bring us closer to our final goal.

The animations are done through sprite sheets so the artists worked to create movements for the enemies and the turrets featured within the game.

Programmers, designers and artists worked very closely to make sure the animations ran as smooth as possible and working with each other to make sure everything was right and looked good. More enemies and turret animations have to be added to bring us closer to the final design of the game.

Each artist has been working on tasks to help further the game such as character assets, map design etc. however each artist has been developing a level to be implemented into the game. The map's decaying system is still to be implemented to highlight the health and integrity of the university.

Over the past week the team has been working on the documents that will outline the game and give other teams an idea of how to create the game. The artists have also been working hard to improve upon hat which had already been created, the programmer has been working on adding more features such as animation and more enemies and the designer have been working on the menus for the game. The team will continue with this work for the next week as another iteration of the game is to be shown which will be an improved version of the prototype and will be an alpha version of the game. This will have close to finalized art and mechanics that were set out at the start of the creation process. With this, the game will be entering the final stages of development with only 6 weeks left till the deadline and the team is excited to show you what they have created over the past few weeks!

The artist team here has been generating ideas through concept art for the tower defense game.

Ideas have been drawn up for students, backdrops, enemies and turrets for usage within the game. The enemies have to be distinguishable from normal students so the team has come up with different ideas on how to do that.

Each artist is creating their own backdrop for a level within the game. Each artist has established a location for their level. Each level has enemies assigned to them and students that have perks and abilities have been assigned.

Different turret ideas have been talked about by the team from their look to their abilities. The finalization of the enemies, students etc. and how they will look is completed and now the artist team are currently working on animations within the game so that the games development is pushed forward and so we can work towards developing the alpha.

Over the past few weeks, the team has been hard at work to create a prototype. This prototype is basic and only contains one tower and enemy and at this stage the game is easily unbeatable, however the below video does not represent this. Towers can be placed on the map in certain locations indicated by grey cubes that stick out of the ground. These cubes turn black when the player hovers over the blocks to show that they can place a tower here, when the player clicks down on the block a tower sis automatically constructed, in a later build there will be several towers to choose from. The towers cost £100 at the moment and the player starts with £200. After each enemy is cured the player's currency is increased by £10 so they can get more money to build more towers. The enemies currently come in via waves and at the end of each wave 1 enemy is added for the next wave, 1 second is also added at the end of each wave to give the player time to combat each wave. If the enemies do overcome the player, then they shall be taken to a "Game Over" scene to indicate that they have lost the game. The map is Glasgow Caledonian University's entrance to the Govan Mbeki building, the towers are Pencils stacked on top of Books and the enemies are the students that have been infected by the coffee. The artists settled on the idea of having a cartoonish art style for the whole game. The user interface, however, will still be easily distinguishable from the map by using darker, more vivid colours and will incorporate certain details. For a more satisfying and realistic gaming experience the decision of having a 2.5D view of the map was made, allowing the artists to add detail and character to the game.
Here's a look at our prototype (PLEASE REMEMBER THIS IS A PROTOTYPE AND SO THE END GAME WILL BE IMPROVED):
