Quiet inbox?

📭 Plenty of traffic but hardly any orders?

🛒 Sometimes it’s not your products — it’s trust. If people land on your site and feel like they’re being tracked without a clear choice, they’ll just bounce.

✅ One practical takeaway: GDPR means getting **explicit consent before tracking**. If you’re using analytics (like GA4), you need consent in place first — and only collect what you actually need.

A common mistake I see with local businesses is putting all the effort into the website… then leaving Google Business Profile half-finished (or not claimed at all). 📍 Meanwhile, the “map results” are where people tap 👉 Call, Directions, Book.

💡 Concrete takeaway: make sure your Google Business Profile has consistent details, the right categories, proper services listed, decent photos, and regular updates — because for loads of searches, that listing is the *first impression*, not your homepage.

I’ve written a straight-talking guide on why local SEO matters (especially around the North East) and what to fix first 👇

A common mistake I see: people pick **SEO or Google Ads** like it’s a rivalry… then judge it by the wrong thing (usually *cheap clicks*). 🚫💷 A click isn’t a customer — and both channels can burn money if the website isn’t doing its job.

✅ One takeaway: **Google Ads is “renting attention”** — you can appear quickly, but when you stop paying, the visibility stops too. SEO is slower, but you’re building an asset on your own site over time. 🧱

If you’re stuck choosing where to put your budget, I’ve written this in plain English (North East-focused): https://balticdesign.uk/seo-vs-google-ads-north-east-business/
📩 If you want a second opinion on what makes sense for your site, message me.

You know the feeling: you need more enquiries or sales, but you haven’t got months to sit around hoping the website “kicks in”. So you start looking at two obvious routes on Google — SEO and Google Ads — and it quickly turns into a head-scratcher. One promises longer-term growth, the other...

A mistake I see a lot: pages called “Home” or “Services” (or the same title copied across the site). Google has to guess what’s what… and people have no reason to click.

🛠️ Quick win: write a unique title tag for every page. A simple format that works well is: **Primary service + location + brand** — e.g. “Boiler Repairs in Gateshead | [Business Name]”. Keep it roughly **50–60 characters** so it doesn’t get chopped off.

📌 I’ve written up the basics in plain English here: **Meta Tagging Masterclass (Part 1)** 👉 https://balticdesign.uk/meta-tagging-masterclass-part-1-the-basics-2/
If you want me to sanity-check your titles/descriptions, drop me a message.

You know what’s frustrating? You’ve paid for a nice-looking website, your services are spot on, and people in the North East genuinely need what you do… but your site still isn’t pulling its weight. Or worse: you’re showing up on Google, but nobody’s clicking. That usually means your sho...

If you’re a Gateshead business thinking “we just need a website,” it’s worth asking a bigger question: will it actually *work* for your customers and your goals? In our new guide, we break down what “bespoke WordPress” really means—beyond a template—so your site is built around your brand, your content, and the actions you want people to take.

One of the key takeaways: a bespoke WordPress website isn’t about fancy features for the sake of it—it’s about performance, clarity, and conversion. From structure and UX to scalability and SEO foundations, the right build can save you time now and support growth later.

You know the crack: you Google your own business on your phone, click your site… and it’s a bit of a mess. Text is tiny, buttons are awkward, the page jumps about, and before you’ve even found the phone number you’re thinking, ‘If I’m annoyed, customers must be bouncing straight off.’

A website isn’t just something to “have” — it’s one of your hardest-working business assets. In our latest blog, we explore why investing in custom website design can pay off in better performance, stronger brand credibility, and a smoother customer journey from first click to enquiry.

Templates can be a quick fix, but they often come with compromises. Custom design gives you a site built around your goals, your customers, and how you want to grow — with the flexibility to evolve as your business does.

Customer reviews aren’t just “nice to have” — they’re one of the quickest ways to build trust online. When people land on your website, seeing real feedback from real customers helps them feel confident (and that confidence turns into enquiries and sales).

In our latest blog, we break down how reviews can transform your online presence — and what you can do to collect them consistently, respond the right way, and showcase them across your site for maximum impact.

Have a read and let us know what your current review strategy looks like: https://balticdesign.uk/how-customer-reviews-can-transform-your-online-presence-and-what-to-do-about-it/

When someone lands on your website for the first time, they’re asking a silent question: “Can I trust you?” Your portfolio, your branding and your copy all help—yet for most UK customers, nothing answers that question faster than a strong set of recent, authentic reviews.
