.NET 8 and .NET 9 both stop getting security fixes on 10 November 2026. Applications built on them keep running, but there is no paid extension. Moving from 8 to 9 gains nothing: the supported move is .NET 10. Before upgrading, check the tests and the packages. Link in the comments.

When is a piece of software finished?

Without acceptance criteria, that is a matter of opinion. With them, both sides agree before work starts what will be checked at the end. "The search should be fast" can't be checked. "Results appear within two seconds" can.

Windows Server 2022 leaves mainstream support on 13 October 2026. It does not stop working, and security fixes continue until 14 October 2031. What stops is new features and fixes for problems that are not security problems. A good time to check updates are being installed. Link in the comments.

Agreed a fixed price for new software, then thought of something else you need?

That is normal. Seeing working software is what prompts new ideas. The trick is agreeing up front how a new request is handled: swap it for unstarted work of a similar size, have it quoted and added, or save it for a later phase.

Who supports your business software, and what did you actually agree with them?

If the answer is a phone call a few years ago, it is worth writing it down. A service level agreement sets out support hours, response times and how you raise a problem, so both sides know what to expect when something goes wrong.
