Back in January, we set out to do something a little different. Twelve hours of darts, no shortcuts, all in support of Macmillan Cancer Support.
Thanks to the generosity, time and energy of everyone involved, we’re proud to say the event on 16th March raised £2,500 for Macmillan. An outstanding result, and one that genuinely means a lot to everyone here at AME.
The day itself was exactly what we hoped it would be. Customers, friends and family came through the door throughout the challenge. Some stayed for hours, some popped in to throw a few darts, others came purely to support, donate and cheer people on.
There was plenty of noise, laughter, competitive spirit, and the odd questionable dart throw. More importantly, there was a real sense of community around a cause that affects far too many families.
Macmillan’s work supports people through some of the toughest moments of their lives. Knowing this event helped raise funds for that support made every hour, and every dart, worthwhile.
Once the final dart had landed and the donations were counted, it was straight back to work. No drama.
The training room was rebuilt in record time, PCs fired back up, and our Microsoft Excel Advanced course started as scheduled the very next working day. Exhausting, yes. Disruptive, not at all.
That balance matters to us. Supporting good causes without dropping the ball for our customers is part of how we operate.
We originally set out with a clear fundraising target. With donations continuing to roll in even after the event ended, we didn’t just hit it, we surpassed it, bringing the final total to £2,500.
Every single donation, large or small, played a part in that figure.
This simply wouldn’t have happened without the people who got involved.
Thank you to everyone who:
