Last weekend marked my first wedding anniversary! And I honestly have no idea where the time has gone.

I worked REALLY hard on all the little details, too hard probably - the week before was absolute mayhem! However, I enjoyed it, it was one of the things I missed most after the wedding - sitting down of an evening with my laptop and coming up with fun ideas to really make the day ours.

One idea that wasn’t mine, was all the football related details (we’re not calling it a theme!). But it was the one thing my (now) husband wanted, the only thing he asked for - I couldn’t really say no. But in no way was it not going to be pretty... So, we had our tables named after his favourite Tottenham players; in gold script on frosted acrylic discs, which sat beautifully alongside our circular menus. The, the table plan (wow did I go for it here) was made up of footballs painted in our wedding colours, displayed in acrylic boxes and stacked in a large pyramid on a hot pink dresser, which was repurposed from the ceremony and again later in the evening. I even ordered a goal for the evening for a little penalty shoot out, which worked fabulously alongside the venues badminton and croquet and our beer pong table. Yes, I did get that in…swipe to the end ;p

It’s safe to say the day was us to a T, and we loved every single second!

2️⃣ Subheadings are your best friend — essential for breaking up text and keeping those skim-readers engaged.
3️⃣ Use diagrams, images and graphics to explain key points — a picture = a thousand words and all that.

I didn’t start out as a designer… I started as a Bid Coordinator in a sales team. I was using word and publisher, doing my best to make documents interesting - it was painful, and limited. So I taught myself InDesign, Photoshop and Illustrator.
 Now? I specialise in layout design and have 15 years experience creating clear, compelling, beautifully structured documents — from 10-page brochures to 200-page tenders.
 This career guide was designed for around their existing logo, but who had no further branding. It had to be bright, bold, and appeal to young people, whilst also being genuinely useful.

I mean… how could I not jump on this trend? I’m obsessed. As if ChatGPT made this! Although, it took a lot of re-prompts and a few edits in Photoshop to get it to where it is now.

So meet ‘Graphic Designer Barbie’ – rocking the comfies, carrying a bag big enough for a weekend away, and of course notebooks, macbooks and coffee.

AI really is a game-changer. I use it daily, and it’s not going anywhere. But let’s be clear: it’s only ever the starting point, because there’s one thing it can never replicate:
