That's a wrap on the 2026 cricket season! 🏏

We've been really proud to sponsor Queensbury Cricket Club Under-15s this year, and it's been brilliant to follow their progress.

With eight players now moving up to U18 and senior cricket, it's fantastic to see the next generation of young cricketers developing and taking their next steps in the sport.

Grassroots sport plays such an important role in local communities, and with our founder Jonny originally from Yorkshire, this sponsorship has been particularly close to home.

A huge congratulations to all the players, especially those recognised at last weekend's awards evening, and a big thank you to the coaches, parents and volunteers who give up their time to make it all happen.

Some projects are especially nice to work on because they’re right on your doorstep.

We were appointed by Midlothian Council to create a series of tourism films and social media content for Locate in Midlothian, designed to show off the places, people and experiences that make the area worth visiting.

The result was "Scenes Worth Sharing", four films covering history and heritage, arts and culture, outdoor adventures and hidden gems. Fifth House managed the whole process from concept and scripting through to locations, filming, drone footage, editing, graphics and sound.

As a Midlothian-based business ourselves, it was particularly satisfying to help tell the story of the place we call home, and to discover a few corners of it we probably didn’t appreciate enough beforehand.

A new portfolio book for Windsor Developments a construction and joinery company specialising in the refurbishment of traditional and period homes.

Kirsty Allan, working with Windsor Developments, approached Fifth House with a clear vision for the brochure, specifying the layout and the understated, editorial feel she wanted to achieve. Working in collaboration we brought that vision to life through considered design, refined typography and carefully balanced photography.

The finished book reflects the craftsmanship and attention to detail Windsor brings to its projects.

A slightly bittersweet team breakfast this morning as we say goodbye to Beck.

Beck has been a brilliant part of Fifth House and we’re genuinely sad to see her go.

But it’s difficult not to be inspired by what she’s doing next. She’s decided to make a complete career change, leave the world of design behind and become a Personal Trainer — ultimately building something of her own.

I’d like to think that working at Fifth House inspired the entrepreneurial spirit. Although there’s also a very real possibility that I’ve just put her off design altogether. 😂

Either way, it takes a lot of courage to leave a career you know and start again doing something you really want to pursue. I’ve got a huge amount of respect for that.

We’ll miss having Beck around, but I’m really excited to see what she builds next.

Five years of Cat at Fifth House.

Cat joined us in 2021, right in the middle of the pandemic.

I interviewed her remotely, hired her remotely and, for a while, worked together without ever really having the normal experience of being in the same room.

It feels slightly surreal looking back now, especially when you think about how much has changed since then.

Over the last five years, Cat has become such an important part of Fifth House. She brings creativity, instinct and a strong point of view to the work. Although, for the record, she would absolutely prefer that I didn’t describe her as opinionated.

So I won’t.

She also brings humour, energy and plenty of personality to the team, and in a small business that matters just as much as the work itself.

The people around you shape the culture of a business, and Cat has played a big part in shaping ours.

I’m really proud that someone who joined us in such unusual circumstances has gone on to be part of so much of the Fifth House story.

Thank you, Cat, for the last five years.

Six years of Fifth House.

Today marks six years since we started Fifth House.

What began as a one-person venture has grown into a team of five, working with clients across the UK and internationally.

Over the past six years we’ve navigated a global pandemic, moved offices, built an incredible team, expanded into the Middle East, worked on some fantastic projects and had the privilege of partnering with clients who continue to put their trust in us.

We’re incredibly grateful to everyone who has been part of the journey. Our team, clients, suppliers, mentors, friends and family have all played a role in getting us to this point.

We were out capturing new photography content for Balatoni Financial Planning with Kerry and Conrad — and Edinburgh absolutely turned it on. Blue skies, incredible light and a brilliant setting for the shoot at Edinburgh Park.

A big thanks to Chris for the photography work too. We spent the day capturing a mix of professional and natural imagery that will help bring more personality and authenticity to the Balatoni brand across their website, social media and marketing.

In financial services especially, people buy into people. Strong photography makes a huge difference in helping clients feel connected before they’ve even had a first conversation.

Looking forward to sharing more from this project soon.
