Celebrating 30 years of Trainspotting 🎬⚡

We recently had the pleasure of delivering technical production for Assembly Festival at Leith Theatre, Edinburgh, marking three decades of one of Scotland’s most iconic films.

For the event, Black Light PS provided power distribution, staging, lighting and rigging, alongside a dedicated team of lighting technicians, riggers and a lighting operator to bring the space to life.

The lighting rig featured:

💡 Ayrton Rivale
💥 CHAUVET Professional UK Color STRIKE M
🔥 Molefay Blinders
✨ Martin MAC Aura XB
⚡ The new Martin Professional MAC One Beam

Atmosphere was provided by our MDG ATMe hazers, giving us beautifully consistent haze distribution throughout the venue, all controlled via Avolites D7 and Luminex Networking.

A brilliant project celebrating an iconic piece of Scottish culture — and a pleasure to be part of it. 🖤

🎭 The Singer | Dundee Rep Theatre

We recently had the pleasure of providing Lighting and Video equipment for The Singer, a bold new piece of gig-theatre from Dundee Rep Theatre and Solar Bear, in collaboration with Aberdeen Performing Arts.

The Singer is a bold, new, thrilling piece of gig-theatre about Joe, a deaf artist who “sings” with his hands, and Andy, a washed-up musician hungry for a comeback. Joe experiences music viscerally and physically, feeling rhythm through his body and crafting lyrics that pulse with life and exhilarating originality. When their unlikely creative partnership sparks something extraordinary, ambition and belonging collide. But as prejudice and the music industry’s ableist blind spots close in, their bond is pushed to breaking point.

As part of Emma Jones’ lighting design, we supplied:

💡 Martin Professional MAC One
💡 Martin Professional MAC Aura XB
💡 Ayrton Rivale Profile
💡 ETC Source Four Series 3 Lustr
And our Esdlumen Wing Plus 2.6mm LED Screen.

Director & Book Writer: Cora Bissett
Music & Lyrics: KT Tunstall
Lighting Designer: Emma Jones

One thing we truly love is seeing events grow and reach new heights. Neil Foulis, Technical Manager of the St Magnus International Festival, has done exactly that. ✨

We were delighted to work with Neil and his team once again this year for the festival’s 50th Anniversary celebrations, supplying lighting, rigging, and staging to support this incredible milestone. 💡🔩🎭

Neil said: “The St Magnus International Festival presents unique challenges, particularly its location in the Orkney Islands. We value the longstanding partnership and the considerable level of support and professionalism provided by Black Light PS during our 50th Anniversary celebrations this year. Their extensive range of equipment and location in Scotland helped us reduce our carbon footprint by minimising haulage and increasing our LED fixture usage. We look forward to working with them again next year!”

A huge congratulations to everyone involved in delivering such a memorable 50th Anniversary celebration. 🎉

We were honoured to provide audio and staging for the unveiling of a new statue in Princes Street Gardens, Edinburgh. 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

🔊 The event utilised our d&b Q7 and Y7P loudspeakers, alongside Shure Axient Digital AD4Q with Shure AD2 G56 handheld microphones, all controlled via our Allen & Heath SQ6 console — ensuring clear and reliable audio for this significant occasion.

His Majesty The King, Colonel in Chief of The Royal Regiment of Scotland, unveiled the statue to mark the 20th anniversary of the formation of the regiment.

The bronze reclining lion, designed by local Edinburgh artist Kenny Hunter, stands proudly guarding the regiment’s cap badge. Cast in six separate sections, the sculpture represents the unity of Scotland’s six historic infantry regiments that amalgamated in 2006.

We were proud to play a small part in supporting such a memorable and historic event. ✨
