Google face 5 billion dollar lawsuit, don't use Google browser or search engine. Even when surfing as anonymous user they still collect / harvest your data. I'll suggest search engine and browser soon. Avoid Google!

Google was sued on Tuesday in a proposed class action accusing the internet search company of illegally invading the privacy of millions of users by pervasively tracking their internet use through browsers set in "private" mode.

Cryptolocker is the single most harmful virus / malware I have ever seen, it takes all your files, including music, photos and every other file on your windows machine and encrypts them. So far this has cost $30 million dollars. You are offered to pay anything from £70 to £900 to retrieve your files, the early versions of this you could reverse engineer it and get your files back, however there is now no solution unless you pay the crooks.

My advice is as follows, or change to Linux!!

• Don't open attachments from unknown sources or from emails that appear to be from a legitimate source but are suspicious.

• Regularly back up important data and keep it within unconnected storage.

• Consider moving more data to cloud services offered by Google and others.

• Businesses should check incident response and resilience protocols to monitor for infection.

• Ensure staff are educated in good computing practices and how to spot threats.

• Use software to identify if a computer is infected. If so, disconnect it from networks immediately and seek professional advice.

• If you believe you have been compromised, change online account passwords and network passwords after removing the system from the network.

• Block .exe files over email, including within ZIP files. This can usually be done using an anti-spam system.
