If certain ads aren't driving sales, the first thing you should check before turning them off isn’t ROAS.

It’s amount spent.

- Meta doesn’t treat every ad as a “closer.”
- Some ads are used to warm your audience.
- They create interest, build familiarity with your product, and signal buying intent.

Meta's algorithm knows this and will intentionally allocate spend to these “pre-sell” ads even if they don’t directly convert.

That’s by design.

So don't panic if you see Meta pushing budget to an ad that’s not driving sales.

Check if it’s doing its job at the top of the funnel.

Evaluate these metrics:

- CPM (Are you reaching people cost-effectively?)
- CPC (Are they clicking?)
- CTR (Are they engaging?)

Google updates its search algorithm 500+ times a year.

This makes SEO the most dynamic marketing channel there is.

What worked last year, or even last month, could already be outdated today.

→ How search engines work changes.
→ Your competitor strategy changes.
→ User search habits change.

If you don't stay on top of these things, you’ll fall behind.

But these changes also create opportunities.

1) Focus on EEAT like your life depends on it.
2) Zero-click searches are not a loss.

Turning £1 into £8 with paid ads isn’t luck.

It’s strategy (and a lot of testing 😎).

When we first took over this ad account, the ROAS was just 1.55x.

That's just breaking even (including our agency fees).

Four months on, we hit 7.9x ROAS.

This is what we did in the first two months:

1. Tested detailed vs. open targeting, ad copy (short vs. long), and creatives (static vs. dynamic).

2. Stayed on top of what was working and what wasn't (quickly turning off underperforming ads).

3. Built a retargeting campaign to re-engage those who had already interacted with the ads.

4. Launched new ads around important dates (school holidays and celebrations).

5. Continued running ads with the most likes and comments (social proof).

We found that this is what worked best:

→ Short, punchy copy that got straight to the point.
→ Short, engaging videos that captured attention fast.

Once the ad account was warmed up with plenty of audience and conversion data, we just continued doing more of what worked and less of what didn't.

2. Use simple, direct language and make sure your message is easy to understand.

3. Show the customer what’s in it for them and emphasise value over features.

We turned 365 days of ads into 4x revenue for one of our local clients in Edinburgh.

Some months were obviously better than others (sometimes significantly).

But over 12 months, the numbers added up to a solid 4x return on ad spend (ROAS).
