This poster was created to celebrate Sir David Attenborough’s 100th birthday — not only as a tribute to his extraordinary life and work, but as a reflection on the responsibility he now passes on to us.
For nearly a century, Attenborough has documented the beauty, complexity, and fragility of the natural world. Through his films and witness statements, he showed generations of people the interconnectedness of life on Earth, while also warning us about the consequences of environmental destruction, climate change, and biodiversity loss.
The central phrase, “We Must Rewild the World,” represents both a warning and a call to action. The poster is designed around the idea of continuation — that protecting the planet cannot depend on one voice alone anymore. The responsibility now belongs to all of us.
The archival visual language, monochrome palette, and historical imagery were intentionally chosen to create the feeling of memory, evidence, and preservation. The use of real century-old photographs reflects both the past and a possible future: if humanity continues to damage ecosystems and wildlife at the current rate, future generations may only experience nature through archives, recordings, and documentation rather than through direct connection with the living world itself.
The timeline highlights key moments in Attenborough’s filmography, tracing the evolution of his work from exploration and discovery to environmental urgency and restoration. His final message becomes the emotional core of the poster: that humanity still has the ability to change course, but only if we collectively choose to act.
Ultimately, this poster is not only about celebrating David Attenborough’s legacy. It is about recognising that every individual action matters. The way we consume, travel, eat, protect wildlife, restore ecosystems, and educate others shapes the future of the planet.
The story of the natural world is no longer only being documented.
Its future is now in our hands.
