39 years since the birth of Hobson Electronics. A second hand garage door and a couple of windows left over from someone’s unfinished project. Roofed using corrugated iron sheets.
1000’s of the most amazing friends and customers have crossed our doorway (plus just a few dipsticks)
Our first sales were cassette Walkmans. We have seen technology pass from valves to modern micro technology.
We now take for granted, things that 39 years ago , we wouldn’t even dream could be possible.
Our continued existence could never have been possible without you, our valued customers.

Compacted snow road report !!
For access to Hobson Electronics you will require either a 4x4, a helicopter, a Sherman tank or similar tracked vehicle. Front wheel drive, with care should be ok. Rear wheel drive won’t get here but it will be fun trying.

8 years ago I posted this on Facebook. Today BBC news reported just how easy it is to steal a keyless car. Manufacturers cannot offer a keyless system which is totally theft proof.

You can imagine my shock today at being offered Equipment manufactured in Beiruit with the sole purpose of stealing cars. This highlights the danger of contactless ignition keys.

𝗛𝗼𝘄 𝗵𝗮𝘃𝗲 𝘄𝗲 𝗯𝗲𝗰𝗮𝗺𝗲 𝗘𝗰𝗼 𝗳𝗿𝗶𝗲𝗻𝗱𝗹𝘆 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗲𝗻𝗲𝗿𝗴𝘆 𝗲𝗳𝗳𝗶𝗰𝗶𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝘄𝗵𝗶𝗹𝗲 𝗮𝗹𝘀𝗼 𝘀𝗮𝘃𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗼𝘂𝗿𝘀𝗲𝗹𝘃𝗲𝘀 𝗺𝗼𝗻𝗲𝘆?

Let’s go about it in chronological order:

First: Replace old bulbs and halogen lighting with LED lights and also add on motion sensors so lights don’t stay on unnecessarily (Lights are one of the most consistent wasteful drains of electric). This is what helps us toward a constant load of just over 3kW.

Second: We added on solar panels (Max 7kW) which is more than enough on a sunny day to power our whole building and return some of that back to the grid. The issue with that is on a cloudy day or when dark we don’t benefit so have to at times use almost full power from the grid.

Third: Recently we added a 10kW battery into our system. When it’s sunny the excess power from the solar panels can be used to charge the battery rather than being wasted or sent to the grid. This means we create a store so when it gets cloudy we can pull power from the battery rather then the grid (10kW battery and 3kW approx load gives us around 3 hours operating solely on battery)

All this combined helps us to become much more energy efficient and massively reduce our electricity bills which in this day and age is becoming increasingly important.

💡 𝗟𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗥𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗿 𝗛𝗲𝗮𝗱𝗹𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁 𝗦𝗼𝗹𝘂𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 💡

An increasingly common issue with all Land Rover LED headlights is that part or all of the light can go faulty. Dealers are only able to offer a replacement light at high expense, but we have found a way to repair these lights, saving you money in the process!

These are 3 of the very happy customer’s vehicles we repaired this week alone 👍🏻
