Our gaming event culminated in yesterday's finale of The War Of The Ring, All Things Tolkien to see which clubs were the most Evil, and the most Good here in NI and to finish off our celebration of 20+ years since the release of the films and near 50 years since the books were published.

Players from the following clubs played both Magic the Gathering and Middle Earth Strategy Battle Game;

Joseph Tennyson - Won a helm, for outstanding performance. He came second in the whole event at only 14! Mid Ulster Gamers.

Dwarf army prize draw - Calvin Phillip's, NCG

- 3rd place GOOD club - Roast & Roll

- 3rd place EVIL club - Tactical Retreat

- 2nd Place GOOD - NCG

- 2nd place EVIL club - Dragonscale Gaming

- 1st Place GOOD - Exploding Dice, Bangor, winning the sword of King Elendil himself, Narsil

- 1st place EVIL - Mid Ulster Gamers, winning the beast of a sword, the Sword of the Witchking

All clubs received a 'One Ring', certificates and helms

The weighting of scores between clubs of good and evil was still heavily in favour of Good, and as such, Northern Ireland is deemed safe from the corrupting power of One Ring to rule them all....

So, tomorrow is our day, the finale of The War Of The Ring, All Things Tolkien gaming event.

We have players from 6 clubs across N.I., from Tyrone, Armagh, Down and Antrim, playing Middle Earth Strategy Battle Game and Lord Of The Rings Magic The Gathering, both Standard and Commander formats.

Great prizes and the aim to see which club is the most Evil or most Good. Still places for players of those games, just let us know.

Wishing everyone a very merry Christmas, thanks to all for their support with this gaming event, here's to a great 2024 and our final day on 3rd February!!

:..20 years since a story of middle earth was told,
Where Hobbits did conclude a journey so dangerous and bold,
To face the such evil creatures and foul things,
They the followers of The Lord Of The Rings...."

Can't believe its 20 years since this magnificence was released to us. The 20 year anniversary is the trigger for this whole gaming event and we can but do our best to celebrate the story as a whole, whether in written form or cinematic adaptation.

We hope whoever you may be that the works of Tolkien are enjoyed and explored for many years to come.

Our own efforts will end (End? No, it does not end, just another path that we all will take...) on Saturday 3rd February 2024. Save the date for an all-day gaming event playing Magic the Gathering and MESBG.

Just a few more hours till midnight when the 3 months gaming wraps up and we see the end of The Return Of The King month come to a close. In rode the Lord of the Nazgul, under the archway that no enemy ever yet had passed, and all fled before his face.

All save one. There waiting, silent and still in the space before the Gate, sat Gandalf upon Shadowfax: Shadowfax who alone among the free horses of the earth endured the terror, unmoving, steadfast as a graven image in Rath Dinen.

“You cannot enter here,” said Gandalf, and the huge shadow halted. “Go back to the abyss prepared for you! Go back! Fall into the nothingness that awaits you and your Master. Go!”

The Black Rider flung back his hood, and behold! he had a kingly crown; and yet upon no head visible was it set. The red fires shone between it and the mantled shoulders vast and dark. From a mouth unseen there came a deadly laughter.

“Old fool!” he said. “Old fool! This is my hour. Do you not know Death when you see it? Die now and curse in vain!” And with that he lifted high his sword and flames ran down the blade.

Gandalf did not move. And in that very moment, away behind in some courtyard of the City, a c**k crowed…. And as if in answer there came from far away another note. Horns, horns, horns.
