This is a Marklin 464 which Sandy at Scottish Garden Railways wanted converted to DC analogue operation form its original AC operation.
Unfortunately the electronics board and forward reverse relay were damaged so it meant a control change.
To achieve this you have to switch the armature and field coil connections via relays or electronics as it is not a permanent magnet motor.
This is an easy way using 2 off 3 volt relays and a Schotty diode.
Only other thing you have to change are the light bulbs to 12 volts.
It can now run forward and reverse on 12 volts DC
