“Free” or “Public” Wi-Fi can feel like a lifesaver when you’re out and about, but it can also be a hidden Cyber Security risk.

In today’s world of hybrid working, it’s easy to open your laptop in a coffee shop or quickly answer emails from your phone while you’re out and about. Unfortunately, Cyber Criminals know this too.

A common Attacker in the Middle attack, involves creating fake Wi-Fi networks or spoofing legitimate websites to intercept sensitive information such as passwords, emails, or business data.

So, before connecting to a "FREE” network, remember convenience should never come at the cost of security.

When we say AitM, what do we actually mean?

Attacker-in-the-Middle...Adversary-in-the-Middle...You may also know it as Man-in-the-Middle.

They’re all the same...

Whatever term you use, this is the process of an Attacker placing themselves between a user and a legitimate service they’re trying to access. Whether that’s Microsoft 365, cloud applications, banking platforms, or even public Wi-Fi.

What makes AitM attacks particularly dangerous is that they’re designed to go undetected. Attackers can intercept sessions, capture your credentials, and even bypass certain MFA protections without the user realising anything is even wrong.

And the reality is: These Cyber Attacks can happen almost anywhere.

That’s why staying up to date with trending Cyber Threats is critical and why businesses need a layered security approach.

Yet another fantastic event with South Yorkshire Chambers of Commerce, this time it was Netwalking at the Yorkshire Wildlife Park!

There's always great conversations to be had at these events, seeing familiar faces and new, and always with a fun activity planned, on this occasion getting to see the amazing animals around the park.

Most people use Search Engines and Social Media Platforms every day and naturally trust what they see online. Whether it’s a Google search result or a Facebook ad, many assume it’s legitimate. Unfortunately, that’s exactly what Cyber Criminals are counting on.

This is where Malvertising comes in. Malvertising is a modern form of Cyber Attack where malicious ads are placed on trusted platforms to trick users into clicking fake websites, downloading malware, or handing over sensitive information.

Unlike the obvious phishing emails full of spelling mistakes and suspicious links, malvertising is far more convincing because it hides behind platforms and brands people already trust.
