To protect the world we love, we have to rethink the assets we use 💡

Today is World Environment Day, and this beautiful campaign from the UN Environment Programme is a powerful reminder of exactly what’s at stake. From our oceans to our forests, the natural world is worth fighting for. 🌍

But true protection requires more than just appreciation; it requires systemic change.

We cannot protect these ecosystems if we keep flooding them with single-use waste. The linear "take, make, waste" model is a direct threat to the biodiversity shown.

At Circulayo, we believe that to fully empower reuse and the circular economy as the default choice, smart and innovative systems are needed. By using technology to track, validate, and manage reusable assets, we ensure operations are seamless for businesses and easy for consumers to return.

The global vision is clear. The technology is here. It’s time to close the loop. 🔄

We had such a great time at last year's The Plastic Free Gathering UK that we’re back for another year! 🌊

This Saturday, Andy will be taking to the stage to explore how organisations can design for a circular economy and integrate reuse, return, and repeat into existing systems.

We'll also be exhibiting throughout the day, so come and say hello. 👋 We'll be showcasing our technology and sharing a live demo you won't want to miss.

Tickets are still available, so don’t miss your chance to join us!

📅 Sat 6th June | 10am – 5pm

It's Small Business Week! 🎉

Circulayo started from a simple frustration: single-use waste piling up at events, venues, and universities, with reuse schemes not quite hitting the mark.

We discovered gaps within the existing reuse systems, and believed the smart technology could truly change that, and be built to scale with businesses.

We're a small but mighty team, and we're incredibly proud of what our clients have achieved by using our technology:
✅ Over 1 million items reused
♻️ 30,000kg+ of single-use plastic saved
🌍 70,000kg+ of CO₂ kept out of the environment

Small businesses exist because we believe in something. For us, that's making reuse work at scale across industries and eliminating single-use waste before it becomes waste.

To celebrate Small Business Week, we have a special offer: sign up with us this week and get 4 boxes of reusables free on your first order!

Here at Circulayo, we’re taking part in the official UK Small Business Week from 1st – 7th June!

We work with businesses, venues, and events to make reuse part of everyday experiences through smart reusable packaging systems. Helping businesses reduce waste with enhanced reuse systems while making reuse easy for customers is what drives us every day.

We're proud to be a small business, and we'd love your support during the week. Please check out our solutions, scan the QR code on your cup, share us, recommend us or tell someone about what we do.

The small businesses of this country are the backbone of the economy, so during Small Business Week, shop small, shop local and support your independents!

Ever wondered what happens to a reusable cup when it finally breaks? 🤔

Today we visited DTE Derby to see how our damaged cups are transformed into brand-new products. It’s a true example of the circular economy in action, taking items that have reached the end of their shelf life and giving them a fresh purpose.

The coolest part? Seeing them transformed into everyday items like coasters and plant pots! We're looking forward to seeing more of what our reusable cups become 👀

Single-use waste doesn’t end when the customer finishes their drink. 🍺

The real challenge is what happens next:

➡️ How do you get reusable packaging back?
➡️ How do you reduce contamination and overflow?
➡️ How do you track what’s actually being returned?

That’s where smart return infrastructure starts to change the conversation.

From festivals to town centres, connected return bins are helping reuse schemes become easier to manage, more measurable, and more scalable, without adding friction for users.

The UK's deposit return scheme arrives in 2027, but policy alone won't scale reuse. The missing piece is technology that makes returning a cup as effortless as throwing it away, and it already exists.

Festival season has now begun! 🎉

And what a fun start we’ve had with The South Manchester Food Festival this weekend!

From great food, live entertainment and tributes to reusable cups in action across the site, it’s been brilliant to see festivalgoers getting involved and supporting a more reusable way of doing events.

Events like this show how simple reuse can be when the right systems are in place, helping reduce single-use waste while keeping the festival experience easy and enjoyable for everyone.

The rain this weekend didn’t stop you all from returning your cups, and we can’t wait for more as the festival season continues! 🎶

Reusable cups are a great idea, but they only work if people actually return them.

Without an incentive to return them, they become "high-quality" disposables. And that defeats the whole point.

That's where digital deposit return systems come in.

Rather than relying on goodwill, they give customers a real reason to close the loop; a small deposit tied to every cup at the point of purchase, refunded instantly when it's returned.

For operators, it goes even further.

Every cup is tracked digitally, giving full visibility of how reusables are moving through the network and where drop-off is happening. That kind of data makes it possible to actually improve the system over time.

A digital deposit return system looks like:
🔁 Refunds that reward customers for doing the right thing
👁️ Full visibility of every reusable across the network
📈 Boosted return rates so you don't need to spend on new reusables

The cup isn't the problem. The system is. Find out how Tap & Return closes the loop 👉 https://bit.ly/4nvXNvH

Yesterday, Payal, Skye, and Phil headed to to explore new ideas and future possibilities to explore further developing our smart reuse bins, looking at new ideas and future opportunities to push our technology even further.

With reuse systems growing fast across events, festivals, and public spaces, it's no longer just about replacing single-use items with reusables. It's about systems designed to work with everyday, real-world behaviour.

The physical infrastructure behind a reuse scheme can have a huge impact on the user's experience, impacting participation and return rates, and it's something we're constantly looking to improve.

A huge thank you to the team at Glasdon for having us and showing us around!

Some exciting conversations and plenty of ideas are in the works, and we can't wait to share more soon! 👀
