An update from the owner of Prism Technology
This is an unusual post for me to share, but I want to be completely transparent with you all.
Since we opened our second store in Western Road nearly three years ago, we’ve loved being able to serve both ends of town. However, we haven’t yet found a "smooth flow" for that location. With recent staff leave and sickness, we’ve often found ourselves running at a limited capacity that doesn't meet the standards I want for you.
I currently have a job opening, but to be honest, I don't have the spare time right now to run a meaningful interview and training process while keeping the wheels turning. I need to take a step back and look at the business as a whole to ensure you get the service you deserve.

Because of this, I’ve made some immediate decisions:
• Temporary Store Closure: Our Western Road store will remain closed for the foreseeable future. This is not a permanent closure—we will reopen once we have the right staffing levels and skills in place to serve you properly.
• Device Collections: All customer devices are being moved to our main site so they are available for collection. We are contacting affected customers now and offering free delivery if you can't make it to the other shop.
• Refining Our Services: To keep our turnaround times fast, we will no longer be taking on unfamiliar repairs or complex "investigation" jobs where the time spent outweighs the cost of the item. This allows us to focus on what we do best.
On a personal note, I’ve been working 100-hour weeks for over a year now, and 80-hour weeks for two years before that. To be honest, I’m tired. I’m not afraid of hard work, but I need to fix the internal flow of the business so we can be better.
I will be going on annual leave in 10 days' time. The shop will remain open, but I ask that you please give my colleagues a little extra time with your orders while I’m away. Prism is still here and still thriving—we are just taking a small step back to move two steps forward.

While half of England is currently running on three coffees and a prayer after that 1am kick-off, we’ve been open and powering through since 9:30am!

However, we are taking a quick "tactical timeout" this afternoon. Both of our stores will be closing today from 2:00pm until roughly 3:30pm for a team meeting and staff training.

We’re using the time to huddle up and sharpen our skills so we can keep providing the best tech repairs in the area. We’ll be back open as soon as the meeting wraps up to handle all your laptop, phone, and tablet needs.

Thanks for your patience—and for those of you who stayed up for the whole game, we salute your commitment!

Change of plans! Our scheduled staff meeting has been postponed, so our doors are open and we are ready for all your tech repair needs. Whether it is a cracked screen, a slow laptop, or a battery that won't charge, pop in and see us during our normal business hours.

We will be closing our doors for a short period on Wednesday 10th June - as such, we will be opening at 1pm on this day.
We are taking this time for an internal team session focused on improving our workshop efficiency and refining our service standards. We want to ensure that every repair and customer interaction meets the high bar we set for ourselves.
We will be back to business as usual at 1:00pm. If you have a device currently in with us for repair, don’t worry—this won’t affect your collection date!

Our broadband is down, again… the backup 4G connection across all brands is too insignificant to be able to reliably function as we need. As such, we are transferring our staff etc to our other store and this store will be closed until Sky decide to rectify. They’ve quoted 2-3 days , but as it’s a bank holiday , I’m unsure on the exact timeframe. Please visit our other store:

We are awaiting an OpenReach engineer in attendance

TO CONFIRM: We are open as normal now, with limited internet access. The 4G connection down this end of town isn't strong enough to sustain a reliable connection, so we have to have full fibre throughput for our needs
