Posting on social media is only half the job.📣

You’ve written the post.

You’ve published it.

Now what? 👀

Too many businesses put all their effort into creating content, then disappear the moment it goes live.

But the real opportunity often starts after you hit publish.

💬 Someone comments.
👍 Someone engages.
🔄 Someone shares your post.
📩 Someone sends you a message.

That’s your invitation to start a conversation.

Respond to comments.

Ask questions.

Thank people for engaging.

Keep the conversation going.

And if someone shows genuine interest, don't be afraid to take things further.

Because social media isn't just a broadcasting tool.
It's social. 🤝

If you're posting regularly but never engaging with the people responding to you, you're missing a big part of the point.

Don't just post and disappear. Start the conversation.💡

Are your website testimonials actually convincing? 💬

You know the ones…

“Great service.”

“Really happy with the company.”

“Would definitely recommend.”

Nice to hear. 👍

But they don't actually tell a potential customer very much.

Your testimonials should do more than make your website look good.

They should help someone who doesn't know you yet think:

“These people understand my problem. They can actually help me.”

A credible testimonial should give some context.

What problem did the customer have? 🔍

What did you do to help?

What changed as a result?

And, where possible, who is saying it?

A testimonial with a name, company, photo or link to a LinkedIn profile carries far more weight than an anonymous quote that could have been written by anyone.

Think about it.

If you're about to spend money with a business, which would you trust more?

“Great service!”

Or:

“We were struggling to generate consistent leads.
Green Umbrella helped us rethink our content strategy, and within a few months we were getting far more engagement and enquiries.”

Exactly.

Don't just collect compliments. Collect evidence. 💡

Your testimonials should give potential customers a reason to believe you can deliver.

Your marketing can't work if nobody sees you. 👀

It sounds obvious, doesn't it?

But so many businesses spend their time waiting.

Waiting for the perfect website. ⏳
Waiting for the perfect branding. 🎨
Waiting until they have “something worth saying”. 💭
Waiting until everything feels ready.🙈

Meanwhile, other businesses are simply showing up.

They're sharing what they know.
They're answering questions.
They're talking about their experiences.
They're giving people a reason to remember them. 📣

And here's the important bit…

Not every post will go viral.
Not every post will generate an enquiry.
Some posts might barely get a reaction. 😬

That doesn't mean they're not working.

Because someone might see your content today and remember you six months from now when they actually need your services.

📣 Marketing is about being seen consistently enough to be remembered.

That's one of the ideas behind Christina's book, Stop Hiding – Start Marketing , a practical reminder that you don't need to have everything figured out before you start putting yourself out there.

You can't be remembered if you're invisible.

Do you really need a LinkedIn Company Page? 💼

Yes.

But here's the thing…

It probably shouldn't be where you spend most of your time.

LinkedIn is all about people connecting with people.

Your personal profile is where conversations happen, relationships are built and people get to know the person behind the business.

So what is your Company Page actually for?

Think of it as your digital shop window. 🪟

It's there to give people somewhere to check out your business and see:

• Who you are
• What you do
• What your business is about
• That you're active and legitimate

It can also be useful for things like recruitment, advertising and helping people find your business when they search for you.

So don't ignore your Company Page.

Keep it looking good. Keep it current. Keep it active.

But don't feel like you need to spend hours trying to turn it into your biggest source of leads.

Because people don't build relationships with logos.

Your Company Page is the shop sign. Your personal profile is the person behind the counter. 💡

“What am I supposed to post today?” 💭

If you've ever sat down to create a social media post and suddenly found yourself staring at a blank screen… you're definitely not alone.

Coming up with fresh, engaging content week after week can be harder than it looks.

And when writer's block kicks in, it's very easy to resort to:

“Here’s what we do…”
“Get in touch…”
“Happy Monday!” 😴

But social media can be so much more than that.

You can share tips, answer questions, give your opinion, show behind the scenes, share customer stories or simply give people something useful to think about.

The problem isn't always a lack of content.

Sometimes, it's a lack of ideas.

You don't need more content. You need more ideas. 💡

That's why we've put together 75 ideas of things to post on social media, designed to give you inspiration when you're stuck wondering what to post next.

And the best bit?

It's completely free.

Your LinkedIn profile isn't a CV. It's a shop window.💼

And unlike a real shop window, it's open 24/7. 👀

Think about it.

Someone sees your post. They hear your name at a networking event. Someone recommends you.

What's the first thing they might do?

Check your LinkedIn profile.

So what are they going to find?

A basic job title and a generic About section?

Or a profile that immediately tells them who you are, what you do and why they should care?

Your LinkedIn profile should be working for you, even when you're not.

Make sure it has:

- A headline that says more than your job title.

- An About section that sounds like you and makes people want to read on.

- A Featured section that shows what you can offer.

- Recommendations that help build trust.

- A profile that feels human, not like a corporate brochure.

Because people don't just buy services.

They buy people.

Stop treating your LinkedIn profile like a CV.

Start treating it like your shop window. 💡

Leaders go first. 🙋‍♀️

Christina recently asked a room full of people a question.

Then she did something most people forget to do…

She put her own hand up first.

Almost every hand in the room followed.

That got her thinking.

People don't just follow instructions.

They follow demonstrations.

It's the same in business.

You can tell your team to be bolder, but are you showing them what bold looks like?

You can tell your clients to believe in themselves, but are you confident in your own offer?

You can talk about the importance of showing up, but are you doing it consistently yourself?

Leadership isn't just about telling people what to do.

It's about being willing to go first.

And yes, there's always that awkward half-second where you're wondering if anyone else is going to follow. 😅

But that's often where the magic happens.

Go first. Every time. 💡

Two stages in two weeks.

I was incredibly proud of that.

I was also incredibly wrong. 😅

Two big rooms in a week, while still rebuilding my body, was simply too much. I’m still learning my limits, and apparently having no ceiling on your belief doesn’t mean having no ceiling on your energy!

But one moment from those events really stuck with me.

The slides completely gave up.

So I told the room exactly that… and carried on.

Because the slides were never the talk.

The message was.

And when you genuinely know who you are, what you stand for and why you're delivering that message, a technical failure can't knock you off course.

That got me thinking about marketing too.

Sometimes we think we need another strategy, another content plan or another clever tactic.

But if your positioning feels off, your messaging doesn't sound like you, or you're busy doing things without really knowing why, the problem might not be your marketing.

It might be your identity.

So I opened both talks with one question:

Whose dream are you actually building right now? 💭

Not the answer you'd give out loud.

The real one.

Because if you're building someone else's idea of success, it's no wonder things don't feel quite right.

Get who you are right first.

Then your marketing has something solid to stand on.

And as for the personal branding, mindset and a healthy dose of mischief…

Well, you know me.

I was never going to behave. 😉

Are you trying to speak to everyone on social media? 👥

Here’s the problem…

Different generations don't use social media in exactly the same way.

What grabs the attention of a 20-year-old might completely miss the mark with someone in their 50s or 60s.

But that doesn't mean you need a completely different social media strategy for every age group.

It means you need to understand who you're talking to.

Think about:

1) Where do they spend their time online?

2) What type of content do they actually engage with?

3) What makes them stop scrolling?

4) What makes them trust a business?

The key isn't trying to be everything to everyone.

It's creating content that feels relevant, relatable and human to the people you want to reach.

Because age might influence how someone uses social media…

But people are still people.

Don't market to an age. Market to a person. 💡

Your website might look great. But if the words are boring, people will leave. 😴

“Welcome to our website. We are a leading provider of high-quality solutions…”

Sorry, but nobody's reading that. 😂

Your website copy shouldn't just tell people what you do. It should make them care.

Good copy should:

✅ Sound like a person, not a brochure.
✅ Talk to your customers, not at them.
✅ Show how you can solve their problems.
✅ Have personality and sound like YOU.
✅ Give people a reason to keep reading.

Because your website isn't there to impress other businesses in your industry.

It's there to connect with your customers.

💡 If your website sounds like everyone else's, don't be surprised when nobody remembers it.

So, is your website copy doing enough?

We've taken a closer look at why website copy matters (and how to avoid making yours boring 👀).
