KOKO (KidsOKOline) has provided specialist moderation tools and services over many years. MySafeTXT (MST) was designed and developed by our team and has been commissioned by many organisations who have online safety at the heart of their online communities. Moving forward at KOKO we are diverting our focus to other projects and therefore MST is available if anyone is interested taking on ownership.
We developed MST to protect children and young people on social websites. MST is a software tool which can be plugged-in to any website, allowing the owners to cost-effectively monitor and moderate all user generated content.
All user-generated textual content and communications between community members is scanned, and any content containing swearwords is automatically rejected (without taking up moderator time). Moderators are then automatically alerted to any suspicious patterns of behaviour which might indicate bullying, sexual harassment, grooming or self-harm.The process is lightning fast and content with no suspect language is published almost instantly. The opportunity to provide this in house greatly reduces the costs, making moderation affordable.

Years ago Govt asked KOKO to prepare for a pandemic !
Why? Bird Flu - KOKO was then providing the largest most secure children's online community globally. Our activities all revolved around a creative approach to learning underpinning the curriculum .... Government were preparing for possible mass closures of schools if the Bird Flu took hold.
Now all this time later SuperClubsPlus would be helping our children to be: socially engaged online with each other, involved in curriculum focused activities, creative and imaginative .. this all provided structure and so many other positive aspects. It wsa fun, kids loved it.
As I hear parents really stressing about the next few months with children at home I so wish there was a similar community that they could rely on now. With MySafeTXT as the moderation tool parents and teachers could trust children were safe. MySafeTXT has continued to do the same for other platforms.
Wishing all you parents out there good luck. I'll be hunting out resources for you and will post here.

Facebook continue to step up to our responsibilities to protect children online ... after much Government attempted intervention, industry discussions there seems to have been so little progress when FB - one of the largest social platforms still fails to provide suitable and age appropriate moderation

The Guardian has published details of Facebook's content moderation guidelines covering controversial issues such as violence, hate speech and self-harm culled from more than 100 internal training manuals, spreadsheets and flowcharts that the newspaper has seen.

GDPR b comes an increasing responsibility. Here is an insight I received today that I thought was worth sharing

As both a data processor and a data controller, it is our duty to protect all applicants and companies from data theft. To this end, in line with article 17 of the GDPR, we delete all completed applications after 90 days from completion from your online portals. Pending applications will remain viewable. It is important that all organisation’s keep records on employees in line with GDPR guidance. Data theft is taken extremely seriously and we are doing all that we can to minimise threats to applicant’s sensitive personal data.
