Are homepage sliders still worth using?

They can look impressive, but they are not always as effective as they seem.

Visitors often only see the first slide, which means the messages on slides two, three, or four can easily be missed.

If your homepage is trying to say too much at once, a slider can make that even harder.

Sometimes one strong headline, one clear message, and one obvious next step will do a much better job.

Your homepage does not need to say everything straight away.

It just needs to make the right first impression.

Do you actually own your domain name?

A lot of business owners assume the answer is yes.

But if your domain was registered years ago by a previous developer, agency, or freelancer, it may still be sitting in someone else’s account.

That can become a problem if you ever need to move your website, change provider, update important settings, or simply prove that the domain belongs to your business.

It is worth checking who the domain is registered with, who has access to the account, and whether your business controls the login details.

Your domain is one of your most important digital assets.

Make sure your business is actually in control of it.

Clicked a link and ended up on an error page?

Your customers can too.

Pages move, services change, and old links sometimes get missed. But a broken link does not have to mean the end of the journey.

A useful error page can explain what has happened and point people towards your services, helpful content, or contact page instead.

You cannot prevent every wrong click.

You can make sure people still know where to go next.

When was the last time you paid attention to the bottom of your website?

The footer is often treated as somewhere to put leftover links, but it can be one of the most useful parts of the page.

It can help visitors quickly find your contact details, key services, important pages, social links, and the next step you want them to take.

And when someone reaches the bottom of a page, that next step really matters.

Your footer should not feel like the website simply ran out of space.

It should still be helping people move forward.

Have you Googled your own business lately? 👀

Potential customers often do exactly that before they get in touch.

They might see your website, Google Business Profile, reviews, social media accounts, directory listings, or even old information you had forgotten was still online.

All of those little pieces help shape their first impression of your business.

So it is worth checking what people actually see. Are your details correct? Do the images still represent you? Does everything feel current and consistent?

Your website is a big part of your online presence, but it is not the only place people are forming an opinion.

If your website is attracting people who are outside your service area, looking for something you do not offer, or working with a completely different budget, that creates wasted time for everyone.

A good website should help people understand whether your business is the right fit before they get in touch.

Clear service information, locations, typical budgets, and how you work can all help set expectations early.

The goal is not just more enquiries.

It is more of the right enquiries.

Should you show your prices on your website?

For some businesses, clear pricing can build trust, save time, and help potential customers decide whether your service is right for them.

For others, fixed prices are not always practical.

In our latest blog, we look at the pros and cons of showing prices online, plus some useful alternatives like starting prices, typical ranges, and clear packages.

If people keep asking “how much does it cost?”, this one is worth a read.

Brochures and downloadable guides can be useful, but your most important information should not only exist inside a PDF.

Many visitors want quick answers without downloading another file.

Important service details, prices, processes, and frequently asked questions should also appear clearly on the website itself.

A PDF can support the journey, but it should not become a barrier between the visitor and the answer they need.

Make the useful information easy to find first. Offer the download as an extra.

If several different services are squeezed onto one page, none of them may get the attention they deserve.

Someone looking for one specific service wants clear information about that service.

They want to know what it includes, who it is for, how it works, and what they should do next.

Giving important services their own pages can make the website easier to understand. It also gives you more space to answer the questions that matter.

One crowded page may feel simpler to build, but it is not always simpler to use.
