The deadline to migrate analogue lines over to digital is 31st January 2027.

The useful question now isn’t what’s changing; it’s which of your customers still have equipment relying on an analogue line.

When you've only got half-term to complete an installation, the last thing you want is to spend valuable site time sorting out things that could have been arranged beforehand.

4G, Ethernet, or both.

The NX1 and NX250 give you the flexibility to connect using 4G, Ethernet, or both together, depending on the installation.

When using both, Ethernet takes priority. If that connection drops or becomes unstable, the intercom automatically switches to 4G to maintain connectivity.

The onboard time clock isn’t only for timed access.

It can also change how an intercom behaves throughout the day to suit the site around it.

From reducing keypad illumination overnight to changing call routing when the office closes, the time clock can automate settings that would otherwise rely on somebody remembering to change them.

Commtel back boxes are moving to black.

From mid-October, black back boxes will begin replacing anthracite grey as standard.

Moving to black brings greater consistency across the range and works naturally alongside common gate, fencing and access-control finishes.

Installation and functionality remain unchanged.

During the stock transition, both finishes may be supplied. If you need matching back boxes for multiple intercoms on the same project, check availability with our Sales Team before ordering.

Another access point doesn’t have to mean another standalone keypad to programme.

A Commtel Telpad can add keypad access where it’s needed, whether that’s a pedestrian gate alongside the main entrance, the exit side of a gate or another access point on site.

Wired into a compatible Commtel intercom or 4G Hub, programming can be managed remotely through the Commtel CONFIG app, with functions such as time profiles and SMS notifications where supported.

We’re hiring a Business Development Manager to join the Commtel team.

This is a new business sales role focused on growing our customer base and building strong relationships with installers.

You’ll be identifying and approaching new prospects, understanding what they need and developing opportunities from the first conversation through to sale. You’ll also work with existing customers to strengthen relationships and identify further opportunities.

We’re looking for someone with at least two years’ experience in business development or new business sales, with a proven track record of winning new business. You’ll need to be confident prospecting, presenting and closing, with the ability to understand technical products and communicate solutions clearly.

The role is based from our Crawley office with hybrid working, alongside customer visits, trade shows and occasional overnight travel.

The right intercom isn’t necessarily the one with the most capacity or the longest list of features. It’s the one that fits what the site actually needs. Specifying too narrowly can leave little room for changes. Specifying far beyond what the site is likely to need adds capability that may never be used.

More residents might move in. A business could expand. Another entrance may be added. The way people access the site may change over time. Allow for realistic changes without choosing a system that the site doesn’t need.

Choose when you want to receive intercom calls.

Residents go on holiday. Shift patterns change. Someone who wants calls during the day may not want them overnight.

With Do Not Disturb in the Commtel NEXUS app, individual users can make themselves temporarily unavailable.

If a call reaches someone with Do Not Disturb enabled, the system simply skips them and continues calling the remaining authorised users.

A simple way to manage changing availability without disrupting how the entrance is managed.
