That was the theme of our latest 'All Hands Together' event at GCD and it couldn’t be more relevant right now.

Across two days (and one very competitive trip to Prison Island), the whole team came together to step back from our day to day work and focus on what’s next.

We talked about:

📌 How we continue to raise the bar for our clients

We explored new ways of working - using AI to accelerate how we build and creating our own tools and accelerators to go further.

Because in a world and market of rapid change, standing still isn’t an option.

📄 Today we officially launch our new report - “The State of AI in Northern Ireland Businesses: Adoption, Barriers & Strategic Impact.”

Produced by our team at GCD, in partnership with the Institute of Directors Northern Ireland, this landmark study provides the first comprehensive view of how Northern Ireland businesses are adopting and applying AI.

Key findings include:

📌 Only 19% of Northern Ireland businesses currently use AI
📌 Fewer than 4 in 10 of these (39%) use it strategically
📌 Strategic adopters are seeing real impact - 86% report efficiency gains, 71% improved customer experience and 58% revenue growth
📌 Main barriers to adoption are lack of knowledge (41%), in house skills (36%) and budget restrictions (22%)
📌 Just 20% of non-AI users have governance or controls in place

The findings highlight both the early stage of AI maturity in Northern Ireland and the growing appetite among business leaders to explore its potential. As adoption accelerates, there is a clear opportunity for organisations to invest in skills, governance and innovation to stay competitive.

Last week, we welcomed Women's Aid Federation Northern Ireland to the GCD office. They shared the incredible work they do in addressing domestic violence and supporting women and children.

It was also a proud moment for our team as we presented them with the proceeds from our 24 hour Gameathon 🎮 in April. A huge thank you to Women's Aid for both visiting us and inspiring us, and to all our colleagues who gave their time (and sleep!) to make the Gameathon such a success!
