Friday = Data Recovery Day 🔧💾

Just wrapped up a successful data recovery on a Samsung device that required a full motherboard swap to bring the data back.

Most people don't see the hours that go into this type of work. Fridays are usually my dedicated data recovery days, which often means working until stupid o'clock and into the early hours of Saturday morning.

When photos, videos, contacts, and important files are on the line, there's no rushing the process. Every recovery is different, and sometimes it takes a lot of patience, precision, and late nights to get the best possible result.

Another happy customer and another set of memories saved. 👍

Completely dead MacBook brought in with no power.

Fault found at board level: failed PMIC and a failed critical capacitor affecting startup power rails 🫠

I'll be honest, this one had me stumped for a while 😅

Another Xbox Series X in today after a botched HDMI repair that needed rescuing.

Feel free to share this post. As this kinda work is on the increase in my place.....

What I found:
• Flux all over the motherboard
• Cheap, corrosive flux left behind
• Multiple tiny capacitors and resistors missing
• Console wouldn’t power on anymore
• Not a single HDMI pad left on the board

This wasn’t a simple port swap anymore — the entire HDMI connection had to be rebuilt with jumper work to restore the damaged traces and pads. A much bigger job than it ever needed to be.

A lot of shops doing this kind of poor workmanship advertise microsoldering repairs every day… but notice how many of them never show clear photos of their actual soldering work. That usually tells you everything you need to know.

If the work was clean and professional, they’d be proud to show it.

You wouldn’t hire someone to install a patio if their page had zero photos of finished patios. Same principle applies here. Always check real repair photos before trusting anyone with your console/device.

Quality repairs matter. Cheap repairs often become expensive repairs.

💦 MacBook Air Spill Damage Repair 💻

Water and electronics never make a good combination 😅

This MacBook Air came in with no signs of life after liquid damage. After replacing the affected components and fitting a new charging IC, it powered back on like nothing ever happened 😁

Best of all — the customer’s data was fully intact 👌

iPad Air 5 that wouldn't show any signs of life.

Cleared short on power rail and replaced small PMIC. All up and working again 😁

Want to thank Phil Easdown for sending it in, and trusting me with their customers device 🙂

This Oppo Reno 8 Pro 5G was run over by a car — completely crushed motherboard 💥

At first glance, it looked like a write-off. But after a closer inspection, I found the CPU & memory chips were still usable.

Using precision micro-soldering, I transferred them onto a donor board and brought the phone back to life, recovering everything important.

📲 Photos recovered
📲 Videos saved
📲 Data secured

From “completely dead” to fully recovered ✔️

If your phone is badly damaged, don’t assume the data is gone.

Importance of getting a second opinion. Either that be with myself or a client that uses my services.

Very poor information being told to customers. And even blatant lies lol

🔧 MacBook Pro – No Power Repair

This MacBook Pro came in with no signs of life at all — no charging indication, no fan spin, nothing.

During diagnostics I found the 1.8V line was missing, which acts as an enable signal required for the system to start.

After tracing the circuit further, the fault led to one tiny resistor on the logic board. The component is so small it fits within the ridges of a fingerprint 😳

Once the resistor was replaced, the 1.8V line returned and the MacBook powered on immediately.

Just a reminder that sometimes a microscopic component can stop an entire computer from working.
