I am absolutely furious with Durham County Council over the disruption being caused to businesses in Coxhoe by the removal of parking spaces outside local shops.

This is having a serious impact on trade and on customers’ ability to access local businesses.

There is no closure notice displayed for the side of the road outside my business, and I therefore intend to remove any cones placed there in order to protect access to my premises and safeguard my business.

I fully appreciate that essential works sometimes need to take place, but local businesses cannot simply be expected to absorb the financial impact of poorly communicated restrictions and unnecessary loss of parking.

Durham County Council needs to address this urgently and properly consider the businesses that are being affected.
