Merry Christmas all! We have an exciting announcement and opportunity that you might be interested in applying for...

Gentoo Sailing Team (GST) is a team focused on competing in the 2024 Vendée Globe with James Harayda as the skipper. As part of our goal, we are hoping to open the door for more young sailors to have an opportunity to sail and work with a Vendée Globe team through our Youth Program.

The selected sailors will compete in various RORC and JOG offshore races on a brand-new Sun Fast 3300, “Surf”, in the 2022 racing season. Sailors will then have the opportunity to come and work on various aspects of our IMOCA campaign as interns. This is an opportunity for you to gain valuable experience from industry leaders in rigging, sail making, boat building, and last but not least, training on the IMOCA.

Applications are now open; 16 sailors will be chosen for the Youth Program and we encourage people with all levels of sailing and backgrounds in the sport to apply! We are looking for enthusiastic and highly self-motivated sailors who have a passion or great interest in transitioning to short-handed offshore racing.

The 3300 racing calendar is below:
1) JOG Great Escape, Sun 27th March (inshore race)
2) JOG Honda Marine, Fri 15th April, return race 16th
3) RORC Cervantes Trophy, Sat 30th April
4) RORC Cowes Dinard St.Malo, Fri 8th July
5) RORC Cherbourg Race, Fri 2nd Sept

Networking with other owners/skippers
Become part of our Youth sailors network who will be encouraged to come back as interns on the IMOCA 60 and learn all areas of managing a campaign.

If successful, we hope to allow one of our young sailors to manage the 3300 sailing program in 2023, taking on the important role of Boat Captain.
