🎉 Heartfelt Congratulations to Cei Meadows Dog Park, (Connah's Quay), on their first year! 🎉 They’ve been truly inspirational business owners - overcoming challenges, adapting, and always adding new touches to keep the park exciting. Their dedication to their customers and their pups has built a fantastic community of dog lovers around a much-needed service. 🐾

Today is 2-Step Verification day /

Data shows that there was a rise in social media and email account hacking reported in 2024, with a total of 35,434 reports made to Action Fraud, compared to 22,530 reports made in 2023 with nearly £1 million lost to hackers last year.

The most common motives for social media hacking were either investment fraud, ticket fraud or theft of the targeted account for extortion.

To protect your accounts you need to -

✅ Enable 2-Step Verification on each online account you have – this adds an extra layer of security to your accounts and will help prove your identity when logging in and stop fraudsters from stealing or accessing your valuable information. It can be turned on in a matter of minutes – time well spent to keep the fraudsters out.

✅ Secure your social media and email accounts by ensuring each password is strong and uses three random words. Remember to never share your passwords with anyone else.

Nearly half of 8 to 17-year-olds have fallen victim to online scams, and this statistic is deeply concerning. It shows that we’re not doing enough to educate our children about the dangers of the internet. While we may think we’re addressing the issue, scams are becoming increasingly sophisticated and harder to recognise. Unfortunately, many young people tend to hide these incidents, hoping they’ll go away – but they won’t. As parents and carers, the most effective thing we can do is educate ourselves and make use of resources from trusted organisations like the UK Safer Internet Centre to spot scams, avoid them or act quickly if there is a problem.

This Safer Internet Day, UKSIC aims to ensure young people aren’t forgotten in conversations about scams online, bringing youth experience and voice to the forefront of this important topic.
