Vodafone has partnered with ITN to help them deliver a smooth broadcast by dedicating a ‘slice’ of their network for the broadcast of the coronation of King Charles III 👑

This is the first time a UK telco has provided a slice of its public 5G Standalone (5GSA) network for a major event broadcast.

With the phased shutdown of the network , we’re having more conversations with customers around 5G, mobile private networks and network slicing propositions.

So, what is network slicing?

It’s a new capability enabled by 5G Standalone.

April 22nd 2023 is Earth Day 🌍

We partner with some of the world's most sustainable organisations, as well as offering e-waste disposal services in line with WEEE directives and compliance regulations such as the Data Protection Act and GDPR.

Here's a snapshot of the initiatives undertaken by our main vendor partners:

🌍 HP Inc has set a goal of achieving carbon neutrality across its operations and supply chain by 2040. In 2021, 3C Technology joined HP's Amplify Impact program - a sustainability initiative designed for partners to help reduce their carbon footprint and achieve their own sustainability goals.

🌍 Hewlett Packard Enterprise has committed to reducing its greenhouse gas emissions by 55% by 2025, compared to 2016 levels. The company has set a goal of sourcing 75% of its global electricity consumption from renewable sources by 2025, and is already sourcing more than 50% of its electricity from renewable sources.

🌍 Lenovo was again listed in the top 100 most sustainable companies in 2022, for the third year running. They have set a target of achieving net-zero carbon emissions across its operations by 2050. The ThinkPad Z line of laptops are made from recycled aluminum and packaging that is made from bamboo and sugarcane.

🌍 Microsoft has set a goal of becoming carbon negative by 2030. 3C Technology has signed the Microsoft Partner Pledge for Sustainability, which is a commitment that partners make to integrate sustainability into their own business practices and support customers in their own sustainability efforts.

By forging partnerships with industry leaders and investing in technologies that support a low carbon economy, we can all play a role in creating the foundation for a more sustainable future together.

Microsoft is merging AI with your favourite productivity apps.

Imagine Clippy on steroids 💪

Microsoft 365 Copilot will soon be available across the whole Microsoft 365 suite, as well as Dynamics 365.

Announced on March 16th, Copilot is designed to assist users in creating a smoother workflow across Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Outlook and Teams.

The acceleration of AI in recent weeks has been astounding, and things continue to move pretty fast. Just in the past few weeks, we've seen:

Windows Server 2012 and 2012 R2 are reaching the end of their extended support lifecycle on 10th October this year.

After this date, these products will no longer receive security updates, bug fixes, or technical support.

If you're currently running these versions, you have the following options:

1. Migrate applications and workloads to Azure. You can save on costs with Azure Hybrid Benefit, and with tools such as App Service and Azure SQL Managed Instance means never having to patch or upgrade again.

2. Remain on-premise and upgrade to Windows Server 2022.
Compared to Windows Server 2012, Windows Server 2022 offers many new features such as storage enhancements for data management, and probably most importantly, advanced security features. One of the most outstanding security features is firmware attack protection. This will provide enhanced protection against extended attacks and threats.

3. Delay your move. If you have Software Assurance or subscription licences you can buy Extended Security Updates (ESU's) to get three more years of security updates for Windows Server 2012 and 2012 R2.

We're encouraging all customers running Windows Server 2012 and 2012 R2 to start planning for the end of extended support. We have pre-sales technical resources, best practices, and more as well as a rich ecosystem of expertise ready to help.

BDR has acquired Colchester-based IT and communications reseller 3C to add £7m revenue and extend its national footprint.

JD Sports have said in a statement that this data breach was “limited” as it does not hold full payment data. They also have “no reason to believe” that account passwords were accessed.

The data that may have been accessed by hackers includes names, billing and delivery addresses, phone numbers, order details and the final four digits of payment cards for “approximately 10 million unique customers".

Microsoft’s Shared Responsibility Model, in simple terms, means “Your data – your responsibility.”

Businesses that have adopted Microsoft 365 often aren’t aware of this and believe that their Microsoft 365 data is fully protected against data loss.
