Sony WF-1000XM4 - Battery Replacement
One of the best pairs of earbuds ever made - and Sony wants you to throw them away the moment the battery starts dying.
After 2-3 years of daily use these cells lose a significant chunk of their capacity. No swap option from Sony, no official repair path. Just "buy the new ones."
Not on my watch.
Getting inside these is the hard part - the shells are bonded shut and the internals are packed incredibly tight for something this small. One wrong move and you're into the driver or the antenna flex.
The batteries themselves are held in with adhesive rather than soldered, which makes the swap cleaner once you're actually in.
New cells in, both earbuds back to full capacity, ANC working perfectly. Sounds like day one.
