It seems at the moment AI is everywhere, and quite honestly, the financial impact on my business is huge.
So here letโs talk about what AI can do.
AI can create digital images based on information provided by yourself.
What it can not do is reliably create production ready artwork, supply the correct file types for print, signage, embroidery, packaging etc. It canโt check bleed, trim and colour profiles.
A graphic designer is so much more than just creating a digital image. We are here to problem solve, understanding manufacturing processes, preparing artwork correctly and ensure every file works exactly as it should.
Using AI is cheap, it doesnโt show that you value your business and can often be a costly mistake when designers need to provide the correct file types.
And how does AI generate images? It has used the artwork of countless designers and artists to teach these systems, however many of those creators were never asked for permission or compensated. Now the technology is being used to compete with the people whose work contributed to its development, crippling the creative industries.
Iโm in the process of diversifying my business to ensure itโs future but please think before using AI, the cheapest option isnโt always the best option, not for your business and definitely not for mine ๐ค
