John Dean — A true pioneer, a mentor, and a friend.

Some people come into your life and leave a lasting impression. Others help shape the direction your life takes. For me, John Dean was one of those people.

I first met John when I was young, Little did I realise at the time just how significant that meeting would become in my life and career.

John was instrumental in helping me take those early steps into the world of professional sound, where he supplied equipment, stages, logistics, and much more for the early BBC Radio 1 Roadshows and opening doors to opportunities that would go on to shape my future. Those opportunities led to studio work, major events and working with household named artists and experiences that have stayed with me throughout my career.

John was part of a pioneering group of people who helped create and shape the industry, These were the days when the industry was evolving, and people like John were making things happen, often without ever receiving the recognition they truly deserved.

Looking back over my career, I realise just how much of an influence John had on me. He was part of that early journey, and I will always be grateful for the part he played.

It's often said that behind every successful story are people who helped make it possible. John was one of those people for me.

My thoughts are very much with his wife and children at this incredibly sad time. You should be immensely proud of what John achieved, the people he influenced, and the legacy he leaves behind. His contribution to our industry, and to the lives of those he helped along the way, should never be forgotten.

John, thank you for everything you did for me and for so many others. I'm proud to have known you, and I'll always remember where my journey began.

Rest in peace, my friend. You will never be forgotten.

Well, that's it… summer has finally loosened its grip and we're waving goodbye to the 2026 summer season! and if we're going to say goodbye to summer, we thought we'd better do it properly!

With a little help from the brilliant Clacton Arts Centre and Love Clacton events we certainly went out with a bang … and what a send-off it was!
It's been one hell of a summer season, Stages, sound, lighting, festivals, community events, outdoor shows, long days, late nights, plenty of miles — and probably more cups of tea than is medically advisable!
But that's summer done. Now there's absolutely no time to sit down.

A huge thank you to everyone who has trusted PLRS Sound & Stage Hire throughout the summer.

🎆 Fireworks events are coming, 🎄 Christmas light switch-ons are starting
🎅 Festive events are appearing all over the country, 🔊 And we'll be there doing what we do best — making the event sound and look bloody good!

So, summer 2026 … Thanks for the memories. It's been a belter.
Now bring on the fireworks and Christmas!

After years of trying to find the perfect employee… we've finally found him!
To be blunt, he doesn't mind working a 12-hour shift, He doesn't whinge or whine, moan, skive or ask for a pay rise every day. He doesn't take it easy, spend half the day chatting, demand endless tea breaks, or take extra-long lunches. Remarkably He doesn't avoid the hard jobs, doesn't spend all day glued to his phone, he's never late, never phones in sick. And, best of all… he never complains!
He's a tough little bu**er, gets his head down, gets on with the job and just keeps going. So, after an exhaustive recruitment process, we're delighted to introduce the newest member of the PLRS team…

MOBIE LAWN KENOBIE

He may not say much, but by Christ, he knows how to cut the grass.
