Q: Why does my business not show up on the map Google shows for search results when there is a place name in the search phrase (see screenshot below)?
Situation: You have a holiday business that has a verified business listing with Google, and you can see the pin when you look on Google Maps (not the map in the search results but the separate Google Maps application or website), but Google isn't showing the business on the map that gets added to the top of the search results.
Why?
In 2025 Google set up a new system to pull in pricing data for holiday businesses, pulling it from booking systems that connect to Google's servers. In the past, you could enter prices yourself in your business profile. Not now. Google scrapes the prices from booking systems and booking platforms. The one that seems to be the most effective at the moment is Booking dot com, so if you have a listing on that platform, Google will find the pricing data and add a pointer for your business on the map in the search results, showing a price on the pointer.
Note: Not all platforms have connectivity with Google. At the moment, AirBnB refuses to share data with Google, so a listing on AirBnB will help you get bookings from folks who use that platform, but it will do nothing to improve visibility on Google. Unlike Booking dot com.
