Digital consent: The central pillar of an innovation programme, culminating in yesterday’s demo day.

Following the introduction of their EPR this year, has turned its focus to digital consent - one of the digital transformation areas deemed to need a specialist provider.

This need led to an innovation programme being set up, a collaboration between UHCW and the . The specific challenge was to bring together a digital consent provider with other innovators working in the health equality space to ensure a digital consent process that works for all. We were delighted to be selected as the core digital consent application for the programme.

As part of the programme, we’ve started developing our own medical illustrations through the wonderful hands of , seen Concentric content brought to life in other formats, such as video avatars and British Sign Language, and explored easy mechanisms to link to human interpreters from within Concentric.

After a few days of reaching 997, 999, 998... today we flew past the 1,000 consent episodes in a day milestone! 🎉 (1,052 and counting)

And it's not just a number. Each of the icons in the image represents a patient, often at a big moment in their life, whom we have an opportunity to support.

Over the last few months we’ve been rebuilding the Concentric clinician application to make it easier to use, more consistent, and a little nicer on the eye. Much of this has been us moving to a ‘design system’ and the inevitable rationalising and improving that comes with a second look at everything.

This evening it’s gone live for all Concentric users! Feels like a big milestone for the team who have been living in a design system world for most of 2023 🎉

Whilst under the covers quite a bit has changed, our aim has been that the transition should feel effortless (almost unnoticeable) for our clinician users 🤞

Same. But different.
