As we head into festival season, it’s worth remembering that this is exactly the kind of opportunity scammers look for.
It's the perfect storm. High demand, high popularity and the ability for fraudsters to pop up and disappear again, leaving the event organiser dealing with the consequences.

Customers are still facing the consequences of a hack at a water company in 2020, with one stating that mobile phone contracts had been taken out in his name after his details were leaked on the dark web. There are so many people who are affected when a hack takes place, customers, employees, suppliers... it can turn people's worlds upside down.

After such a hack, the next way scammers will try to make money is through using the data they have taken. Making sure you remain vigilant when it comes to emails that are pressing urgency on you to respond or phone calls from people you don't know is the first step in your own cyber security defence.
