When you can’t find the right floor, create one! 🏡🎨

We’re continuing our look at some of the vinyl fitting projects we’ve been working on lately, and this one took us away from the workshop.

The customer wanted to change the flooring in their small porch area but had struggled to find something they liked that worked with the colours of the room.

Instead, we worked with the customer and created a design specifically for the space and the surrounding colours, printed a vinyl tile effect floor and fitted it over the existing flooring 👌

Vinyl can be used for much more than signs, stickers and vehicles. Projects like this show how a custom printed design can create an option when something suitable simply is not available off the shelf.

When a jet wash takes off more than dirt 🚗💦

We’re showcasing a couple of vinyl fitting projects this week, starting with this Mini that came into our workshop. 👀

The customer had accidentally used a jet washer at too high a pressure and removed part of the vinyl stripes from the front of the car.

We removed what was left of the damaged vinyl, colour matched the existing stripes, created a template, printed the replacement vinyl and fitted it here in the workshop. 🎨🔧

It’s a good example of how a vinyl job does not always mean starting again from scratch. Sometimes it is about working with what is already there and creating a replacement that fits in with the original design.

What does “bleed” actually mean in printing? ✂️

If your background colour or image runs right to the edge of your design, the artwork usually needs to extend slightly beyond the finished cut line. That extra area is called bleed. It helps reduce the chance of unwanted white edges appearing when the item is trimmed.

You may also hear us mention the safe area. This is the space inside the trim line where important information such as text, logos and contact details should sit.

What File Format Does My Printer Need? 😵

PDF, JPEG, PNG, AI… there are plenty of file formats, but which one should you actually send for printing?
For most, a high resolution PDF is usually a good place to start. If you are supplying a logo or graphic that may need to be enlarged, a vector file such as AI, EPS or SVG can be especially useful because it can be scaled without becoming pixelated.

The right file type can depend on what you are having printed, so we’ve put together a straightforward guide explaining the main options and when they are useful.

Bringing the O’Malley team look together 💐

Earlier this week, we shared a first look at the branded clothing we created for local business - O’Malley Family Funerals.

These professional team photos really show the workwear in its proper setting, as part of the smart, welcoming look of the O’Malley team.

These branded softshell jackets and gilets form part of the team’s office uniform, helping create a smart, consistent and professional look for meeting with families.

This is one of the things we enjoy about branded workwear. It is not always about making a bold statement. Sometimes it is simply about creating clothing that feels appropriate, recognisable and right for the setting in which it is worn🤍
