It's time for another monthly recap, read below for what our employees and leaders have been up to during November!
Bonfire Night 🎆
November kicked off with a bang, with Bonfire night being celebrated all over the country. Our social team put together another fantastic night of sparklers, snacks and a beautiful hog roast for all to enjoy.
Charity Boxing Match 🥊
In other smashing news, one of our Project Delivery Managers Fin stepped into the ring at a White-Collar boxing event in St Ives, raising an incredible £1,310 for the Stroke Association. After 8 weeks of intense training, Fin not only fought with determination but also won his match!
We're proud of his commitment and the positive impact he's made.
Training - First Aid and Ladder Climb 👷♂️ 👷♀️
Steve has been busy with the training team, getting our gangs and others trained in different areas. Through his brilliant photography skills we can see him conducting the ladder safety course. Whilst the Communication Coordinator took to the training centre to capture the First Aid course held by Martin.
Self-Care Week 💝
The Mental Health First Aiders held a Self-Care week during November - with each one of the members emailing out individually about what it means for them to 'focus on themselves'.
This eye opening week brought to light the tendencies that we have in pushing our own self-care aside when things get too busy in our lives. Regardless, the team stress how important it is to listen to yourself, and take that time / space to relax, in whatever way works for you.
I think I can say for everyone at John Henry Group - thank you to the team for sharing their stories.
Leadership Tour 🦺
Keeping up with the push for the Senior Leadership team to go out to the frontlines and visit sites, three of the team braved the weather to visit the Brentwood yard and 2 sites in Colchester.
"It's not appreciated enough within the confines of a warm office the varied circumstances our teams in the field have to work through. The visit was successful, and we gained some valuable feedback from our gangs. We know the importance of our senior team visiting our gangs, and there is a real impetus on getting us to engage with all personal working out on site."
Industry Heroes Awards 🏅
Recently, our Traffic Management company Avanti was invited to London for the annual Industry Heroes Awards, hosted by the Highways Agency. This event shines a spotlight on companies and individuals who go above and beyond for the communities they serve. Working with DJT and M Group Avanti managed a difficult scheme, seeing the team called upon at 2am one morning to finally begin works after lengthy delays due to protests.
Avanti, alongside M Group as part of the Mill Road Team, left the event victorious - bringing home a well-deserved medal to showcase their commitment and excellence.
