What a phenomenal start to the motoring week; an unexpected announcement from California based Gildred Racing.
Two of us have enjoyed working for the MINI brand in recent years, but what you see here compared to the current BMW MINI, is chalk and cheese.
The superbly named 'Super Cooper Type S' builds upon the iconic chassis of the original Mini Cooper, but with a drastically altered drivetrain. Whereas Mini's of old were front-engined AND front-wheel drive, this desirable offering is the opposite. Yep, you're looking at a rear-engined Mini.
Recommended for 'Advanced Drivers Only', the lump mounted just behind the boot lid is a Honda-derived 3.5 litre V6. In short, a car the size of a shoe with 500WHP.
If you want one though (and of course you do), you'll have to dig deep, as the Type S will set you back a whopping £120,000.
