Events, websites, online shopping, everyday services, none of it should be off-limits just because it wasn't built with Deaf people in mind. CRPD Article 9 says access is a right, not a favour.

Celebrating 10 years of UCL's Global Disability Innovation Hub 🎉

We were honoured to join the Global Disability Innovation Hub’s 10th anniversary celebration with our Head of Product, Zoe Hurst, speaking on a panel about turning bold ideas into real products that change lives.

The event brought together innovators, founders and technologists from across the world, with an exhibition of genuinely incredible technology, from low-cost prosthetics to a wheelchair-mounted cinema camera 🤯

It’s a reminder of how much progress happens when a community leads the way on innovations built for them.

The way broadcasting handles accessibility is changing, and it’s about time 🤝

The Media Act 2024 is putting new pressure on broadcasters to take accessibility seriously. But for the Deaf community, this isn’t new news. Sign language has been missing from broadcasting for far too long.

At IBC 2026, we saw the conversation shifting in real time. More organisations than ever recognising that subtitles aren’t enough and that sign language translation needs to be part of the picture.

We’ve written about what this all means: the legislation, the barriers, and what truly accessible broadcasting can look like.

75 years. One principle that's never changed: Deaf people's rights are human rights 💙

In 1951, the World Federation of the Deaf was founded to fight for exactly that. Equal access, equal opportunity, equal recognition.

This week alone, we've talked about what that fight looks like today: multilingual education, real access to information, Deaf people leading the decisions that affect them, and a culture worth protecting.

Three-quarters of a century later, the mission hasn't changed.

Sign languages are real languages. Deaf culture is real culture. And the work isn't finished.
