You might be wondering ‘what the hell does that name mean anyway?!’
Well you see Cwtch is a Welsh word meaning hug. But more than that its the kind of hug that gives you a warm fuzzy feeling and probably goes on for a long time. The kind you have when you cuddle up on the sofa with a loved one to watch a favourite film. It’s the kind of hug you share with family. A cwtch.
The Dragon’s Cwtch started when, in a private group of friends from round the world on Facebook some of the members started asking for ideas for father’s day gifts. I (Miriam Gibbs) offered to make portraits and cobbled together some sketches that looked decent. In the previous months I’d been made redundant from a job where I’d have a bad experience. I’d been left with no self-confidence, depression and general low health- not to mention I’d only just come back from maternity!
These portraits encouraged me to draw again and soon I found myself drawing more and more and then I started to draw my favourite thing... Dragons! This grew and grew and with support and encouragement from friends, family and local businesses I found myself creating The Dragon’s Cwtch.
The mission of The Dragon’s Cwtch is simple- to put more dragons out in the world, to encourage creativity and imagination. I’m currently working behind-the-scenes on some lovely collaborations with local businesses and product ranges that will really encapsulate the just what The Dragon’s Cwtch is about- a warm hug from a dragon.
