Where's that 8-yarder?

Xnet Waste Manager now shows every skip that's out, what's due back today, what's overdue, which permits are about to run out, and how many of each size you've got free.

You don't type any of it in. It's worked out from your jobs.

Out on the wagon when the phone rings? Getting enquiries at 10pm?

New in Xnet Waste Manager: an AI assistant on your own website that books skips while you can't. It only offers days and skips you've actually got free, checks the postcode is in your area, and puts the booking in front of you to confirm. Anything it can't sort becomes a callback request.

It's an optional extra. Message us and we'll show you it taking a booking. Link below.

Still running your bookings off a whiteboard?

Xnet Waste Manager now has a job grid. Your wagons down the side, your time slots across the top. Click to book, drag to move. Mark a wagon off the road for the day, and each slot only takes as many jobs as you set.

Live now, in the same system as your waste records. Get started free with a seven-day trial. Link below.

A week into digital waste tracking, and skip hire firms are already filing every load through Xnet Waste Manager.

One screen at the gate. A countdown on every load. Sent to Defra on its own, and anything that bounces back lands in one list in plain English.

Still doing it by hand? Get started free. Seven-day trial, and we set it up with you. Link below.

Five minutes, and you'll know more about your website than most owners do.

Log in - and check the only admin account isn't someone who's moved on. Look at the users list: every account should be someone you can name. See what's out of date. Find your last backup and check it isn't sitting on the same server as the site.

Then open your site on your phone and send yourself a message through the contact form.

That last one catches more problems than the rest combined, and almost nobody does it.

The hardest part of running your own company isn't the work. It's deciding what not to do.

Say yes to everything and the day fills up with other people's urgent. The actual building gets pushed to the evening.

What we've learned: the clients we do our best work for are the ones we said yes to slowly. The rushed ones are the ones that go sideways.

A skip hire firm is now filing every load it takes in straight into Defra's system — three weeks before it has to.

From 1 October that becomes law for every permitted site taking waste in across England and Wales. Every load, within two working days.

The bit that catches people out: a load in at 9am Monday is due by 11:59pm Wednesday. If the paperwork waits for Friday, you're late on the whole week.

We built something that does it for you. £49 a month, unlimited loads.

A month today, the way waste sites record what they take in changes for good.

From 1 October, every load arriving at a permitted site in England or Wales has to be entered into Defra's Digital Waste Tracking service within two working days. Every load. Not a monthly return.

The two things we get asked most:

"Won't my weighbridge software do it?" Some will. Worth asking your supplier to confirm in writing that they'll be filing for you from 1 October, and whether it costs extra.

"Can't I just use the spreadsheet upload?" At five loads a week, yes. At fifty it's a job in itself, and every slip is a compliance failure rather than a bit of admin.

We've built something that does it in about a minute a load, with a countdown on every one so nothing quietly runs out of time. Start for free, and tell us your numbers before you commit to anything.

A website that works and a website that's maintained are not the same thing.

Working means it loaded today. Maintained means someone knows what version it's running, whether the backups restore, and which plugins are no longer supported.

The difference doesn't show on a normal Tuesday. It shows the day something breaks — and by then "it was working fine" is true and useless.

Two working days isn't two days.

From 1 October, every load a permitted waste site takes in has to be in Defra's system within two working days — counted from the day after it arrives, weekends and bank holidays left out.

A load in at 9am Monday is due by 11:59pm Wednesday. If the paperwork waits for Friday like it always has, you're already late.
