We've noticed in the past six months that ads promising quick success are everywhere again. Truth is, nothing has really changed - they're just peddling the same old dream of making it big overnight.
If you actually want a business that lasts, you need to get real about your website:
What actually matters:
🚀 Customer-first content: Your copy needs to serve your customers' actual needs, not your ego or what you think sounds clever despite professional advice telling you otherwise.
🚀 Basic usability: If it doesn't work seamlessly on every device, you've already failed.
🚀 Speed: It needs to load fast. Nobody is waiting around for your high-res hero image to render.
🚀 Keeping people on-site: Sending users off to third-party platforms just drains your conversion rate and drops your enquiries.
🚀 Real social proof: Honest reviews, actual testimonials, and detailed case studies. People need to see proof before they'll bother contacting you.
The nonsense you should ignore:
💀 "AI will do it all": Zero accountability, total blind trust, and usually results in generic junk that doesn't convert.
💀 "You need a massive 500-page site": Bloating a site with hundreds of pages just to impress yourself doesn't work. Google won't index most of it, and your customers won't read it.
💀 "Guaranteed overnight success": Real digital strategy takes time, testing, and continuous tweaking. If someone promises guaranteed leads for a few hundred quid, they're lying.
💀 "Bespoke design experts": Half the people pitching custom work are using off-the-shelf templates or running a broken site themselves.
Before you hand over any money, Google the company name first. If they don't exist on Trustpilot or don't even have a Google Business profile, are they truly confident in what they can do?
Look at what people do, not just what they promise.
