We love seeing a great idea become a beautifully finished product. 🙌

We recently worked with fellow Suffolk business Molecule Home Fragrance to print premium labels and candle box sleeves for their luxury home fragrance range.

From getting the colours just right to ensuring the finished print complemented the quality of the products, attention to detail was key.

Our JetPress also meant we could produce the short run they needed while still delivering the first-class print quality and finish you’d expect from a much larger run.

Meet the oldest members of the Kingfisher Press team… and quite possibly the hardest working! 👴⚙️

Our two Heidelberg Cylinders finished their original careers as printing presses many years ago — but retirement was never really their style.

Instead, they’ve been recycled, repurposed and given a whole new lease of life, and today they’re still busy creasing, cutting and punching for our customers.

Built to last, almost entirely mechanical and remarkably reliable, they’re a brilliant example of the circular economy in action: maintain it, repair it, repurpose it and keep it working.

Who says you need to be new to be useful?

♻️ Recycling isn’t actually a new idea…

Those of us who remember the 70s and 80s were doing the circular economy long before we had a name for it.

🥛 Milk bottles were collected, washed and refilled.
🥤 Pop bottles went back to the shop for the deposit.
👕 Clothes were mended and handed down.
🛠️ And when something broke, we repaired it rather than replaced it.

Which brings us to some of the oldest members of the Kingfisher Press team — our Heidelberg Cylinders.

Originally built as printing presses, their printing days may be behind them, but they’ve been repurposed rather than replaced. Today, our two Cylinders are busy die-cutting shapes, creasing board ready for folding, and punching — giving this incredible old engineering a completely new working life.

They’re strong, mechanical, incredibly dependable and still earning their keep decades later.

And the recycling shouldn’t stop when the job leaves us! Please recycle your unwanted paper, board and printed materials wherever you can, so those materials can have another life too.

♻️ Reuse. Repair. Repurpose. Recycle. Perhaps it’s not such a new idea after all.
