Something to think about on the topic of pricing

I saw an advertisement recently, which, effectively, was reassuring me that the advertiser was to be counted on to supply me with the cheapest laser eye surgery I could get. I am not naming names, because I have over simplified. But this was definitely the impression the advert gave me.

Since OrangeTree Online was first created we have provided two main streams of product.

1. Software

2. Business consultancy.

The reason for this mix is that it works. It is, indeed, the reason the company was formed. It was effectively a merger of a consultancy business and a software business.

At some level in our lives, the more things we can move into 'choices', away from 'stuff happening to us', the better.

Let me give an example. A small one. I customer orders some stuff and gives the wrong address. The parcel is getting returned to sender, but because of COVID/Brexit/Reasons the reality is the post office are unlikely to get it back inside a month.

This is annoying. It's annoying that the customer gave a wrong address. It's annoying that the Post Office are messing up. It's annoying that the customer is asking for help with it.

But you can choose not to be annoyed. You can choose how to react. You can choose what level of help to give. The whole thing is choice. Provided you don't let involuntary reactions take over - and sometimes, we do. But we can train ourselves to do so less.

We can apply this rather modest example to all the things that happen - even the bigger things.

I believe this to be a powerful tool in our toolset for success

Big, exciting software. But especially, software that, at the outset, looks impossible to build.

The approach, and the technology, was rather different than today, but I believe the reason we won the contract was still applicable.
