Google published its own guide to AI search. Turns out it's still just SEO.

No llms.txt needed, no bespoke AI schema, no new ranking system to chase.

What actually changed is your expertise and product data now matter more than ever. Beth Moore and Megan Jones explain in our latest article.

How many suppliers does it take to fix one slow checkout page?
Too many, usually. One flags it, another says it's not their scope, a third needs a brief before they'll even look. Weeks go by. The checkout's still slow.

At Door4, it's one team. Acquisition, conversion and technical, all working together, off the same data, with nobody passing the problem along instead of just solving it.

A full service partnership with Door4 means one accountable team across your marketing.

Is your team getting better - or just getting through the week?

There’s a difference between a team that’s developing and a team that’s surviving. It’s not always obvious until you look under the covers.

We’ve got a paid media analyst whose weekly commentary now writes itself overnight - fully grounded in client context, agency language, recent performance. No manual trigger required... it just runs.

We’ve got a marketer who’d never opened Adobe Premiere Pro. Used AI to guide her through a video edit in real time. Job done.

The same people. Wider capabilities.

That’s what re-tooling looks like in practice. It’s not replacing anyone. It’s widening what they can do.

This film is about exactly this. AI as the capable colleague your team didn’t know they had.

“Keep it simple” isn’t the same as “keep it basic”.

In my years at Door4, I’ve heard clients ask for “simple” hundreds of times. Literally. Non-technical, influenced by aesthetic, not truly understanding what they’re asking for.
It kinda made sense when a human was deciding. But AI doesn’t care about your design. It reads depth and detail - case studies, specs, reviews, detail with an un-nervingly infinite patience.
2026 isn’t about thin websites. It’s about capturing what you know, and making it findable.
So ask yourself - is your simplicity about doing less, or understanding more?

𝐄𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐲 𝐩𝐡𝐨𝐭𝐨𝐠𝐫𝐚𝐩𝐡 𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐫𝐭𝐬 𝐰𝐢𝐭𝐡 𝐚 𝐧𝐞𝐠𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐞.*

All the detail. The full exposure. Everything captured in that moment. The print is just one version of it. And many businesses I can see are sharing the print — while throwing away the negative.

We use AI to re-synthesise and format content constantly now. (No point even hiding em-dashes unless you’re pretending that doesn’t happen).

Decks, case studies, proposals, service pages. The lot.

But most of what gets fed in is the last version of something similar — built from another last version, and another before that. By version ten it’s tidy. Reads fine. And the original detail — the constraints, the decisions, the bits that made it real — is gone.
We saw this with a client recently. Their case studies had got shorter over time. More polished. A tidy one-page A4 PDF. But over time, that final PDF had become the template — not the brief, not the debrief conversations. The output had replaced the source.
Here’s why that matters now. LLMs don’t pull from your summary, they pull from your depth. Google’s the same — it’s looking for evidence of expertise and experience, and every time you shorten your story, it becomes more generic. A little more vague.
So ask yourself… when did you last go back to the original? Or are you working from a copy of a copy of a copy?

*I shoot RAW now, not film. You get the point.

Are you a 1x marketer, or are you working towards 2x or 3x?

Join me on 25 June at Crow Wood Hotel & Spa Resort - I’m speaking about the ROI of AI - at the Seriun AI Conference.

I gather that it’s nearly full already, which tells you something about where business appetite is right now. (I will need my best shoes.)

I’ll be covering AI in sales and marketing, which is my thing - and I’ll making it useful rather than impressive.

Because the reality is most businesses aren’t using AI beyond a chat window. Maybe a bit of copy tidying, and the odd meeting summary. Which is fine. But it’s a long way from the competitive advantage that the technology offers.

I’ll be showing real workflows. Ideal customer research. Content planning that goes beyond what any one person would sit down and write. Analytics that don’t eat your afternoon.

If you’re curious what AI actually looks like inside a sales and marketing function, come along on 25 June! See you there.

PS - I’m excited to hear from the other guest speaker, Matthew Lawson at one of Lancashire’s most amazing homegrown brands - Ribble Cycles.

I’m at the start of revitalising my garden. (Yeah, 6 months late.)
And I caught myself... I didn’t open Google. I opened Claude. Asked for ideas, materials, layout thoughts. Had a proper back-and-forth about what might work in a south-facing space with challenging clay soil.
Then I thought: at what point does it start suggesting suppliers?
Because that’s where this is heading. Not “here are some search results” — but a recommendation, based on whatever evidence it can find about who actually does this kind of work well.
That’s a different question for B2B businesses.
Not “do we show up in AI results today?” — but when a buyer’s assistant starts shortlisting, is there enough out there to find you, trust you, and put your name forward?
The landscaper who’s worked with clay soil before. Who’s documented the drainage problem they solved. Who has a client saying “they knew exactly what they were dealing with.”
That’s the evidence an agent pulls from.
Most businesses have done that work.
They just haven’t written it down.

Transactional agency relationships are tidy. Brief in, work done, invoice sent.

William Sharp, Account Manager here at Door4, wrote about why the messy version produces substantially better results, with a real client story on a pricing observation that no UX test would have surfaced.
