The driving force behind Barnscroft of Devon is Steve Upperton. Steve spent many years working with some of the world's most iconic brands in the decorative products market and developed a deep love for the use of natural materials in contemporary interior design. "I believe that natural products not only compliment but in fact sit at the heart of contemporary modern design. The use of wood in flooring or blinds, cotton, h**p or sisal soft furnishings or my personal favourite wool and sheepskins, add a comfortable and timeless quality to any room." Barnscroft HQ is based in rural Devon on a working farm surrounded by sheep and cattle. We believe we are part of the environment and work towards minimising our impact on it. Wherever possible we support local products and the local community. About our materials
The materials we use are mainly from the UK, Australia, New Zealand and South America. Different countries produce hides and sheepskins fleeces with very different characteristics depending on the breed, grazing and the predominant weather. We carefully select the right raw materials so that your final product remains beautiful, and will give you pleasure for many years to come. Cowhides and fleeces are a natural sustainable by-product of farming. We use a lot of sheepskin and wool products in our ranges, the natural beauty of sheepskins, which offers a luxurious tactile texture can be used in so many ways. We love it. Wool has many amazing properties. It is non-allergenic, non-irritating and asthma safe . Cowhide is both a beautiful and hardy material and easy to maintain. Our hides have been imported from South America where the cows are reared on open pasture producing the worlds finest quality hides.
