Goodbye September - Hello October!

The Saxons called October "Wyn Monath" It basically translate to wine month and was the time they made wine - we like this fact! 🍷

There are 7 months in the year with 31 days and October is the 6th of them with December next!

On October 1, 1949, the People’s Republic of China was founded 🇨🇳

Also on the 1st October 1974 the very first McDonald’s restaurant in the UK opened its doors located in Woolwich - its still open today! 🍔🍟

Oktoberfest takes place every year in Munich, Germany and runs for 16 days from mid-September until the first Sunday in October 🍻

TODAY IS WORLD TOURISM DAY

This day is a result of the work done by WTO (World Tourism Organisation). Their aim is to boost local economies, sustainable tourism and making travel accessible for everyone!

Use this day to plan or book that trip you've always wanted to! If you can't book a trip take a wander around you local town and pretend to be tourist. discover something you've never seen before or end up in a place you've never been before.

Tourism creates jobs across the world and helps support hospitality. Let's all do our bit to get the economy back on its feet especially since the pandemic.

TODAY IS INTERNATIONAL DAY OF SIGN LANGUAGES

On this day in 1951 the World Federation of the Deaf was launched and in 2018 the day was declared sign language day.

Sign languages convey meaning visually. Generally, each country has its own native sign language. In fact, some countries have more than one. Pidgin Signed English (PSE) or Signed English is the most widely used sign language among deaf people.

Did you know over 125,000 adults in the UK use sign language? It is the primary language for over 15,000 individuals in the UK.

Sign language uses more than hand gestures it uses facial expressions, gestures, and body language to communicate.

Always wanted to learn a second language? Why not enrol in a course and open the world of communication further! Its not as difficult as it looks!

This day was declared by the United Nations in 1981 and continues to promote the idea of world peace. They encourage 24 hour cease-fires and non-violence on this day

This is a reminder of what we can create together among all nations and people across the world. At a time of war and violence it is easy to forget the idea of Peace.

It is more important than ever today to promote peace and open-mindedness for acceptance across gender, race, and territories.

At midday across the world a minute silence is observed to create a "peace wave".

Did you know here at G6 several of our engineers are former military personnel, some with Special Forces experience having worked overseas in hostile & high-risk environments?

They are all highly experienced and many hold security clearance at SC or above. This helps with their ability to adapt to situations and serve our customers’ needs, no matter how simple or complex.

Our background and experience

As a British organisation we have supplied, installed and commissioned communication networks across the world. These networks have encompassed mobile, fixed and portable installations along with system infrastructure and covert communications.

We provide on-site training for the users and the maintenance of the equipment for those involved in the operation. G6 teams have been in-country during ongoing conflicts, where the operational compounds were frequently under attack at night.

G6 personnel have also been deployed to top-secret locations on sensitive and critical covert surveillance missions to provide communication systems and operational support.

In Africa the G6 team worked on a very different project where the aim was to provide robust communications in order to defeat corruption and provide a secure network for its users. Other projects across the continent include communications to support the work of various NGOs in conjunction with military oversight involving the support of internally displaced people.

A variety of projects have been worked on over the years, including some that we cannot disclose involving the FCO and various nations Special Forces capabilities. We can only allude to G6 association to certain projects due to classified details and Official Secrets Acts in multiple countries.
